U.S. military reports death of three Marines in Anbar province
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Three U.S. Marines were killed in action in Anbar province west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said Sunday.

The Marines, who were with Regimental Combat Team Five, died Saturday. Their identities were not released.

At least 2,375 members of the U.S. military have died since the war began in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

U.S. casualties have begun to rise this month following a sharp drop in March, which saw the lowest number of American dead in Iraq since February 2004. Last month, 31 U.S. service members died in Iraq, but the number of fatalities in April already has passed 40.

2. Oh, my god, I just had a horrible thought..
I read this article then immideatly read the buzzflash article about the generals mutinying and thought...why are SO many soldiers being killed this month when so few were killed last month and the two stories came together. I have read elsewhere that the generals care very much for the soldiers and are speaking up because of the incompetence about the handeling of the war.

What better way to get back at the generals than to have soldiers die in big numbers. Almost three per day this month, when it was only one per day last month, and there is not any change in strategy, just put the soldiers out there and they can be killed?

5. No. Last month troops were on-base; this month troops are off-base
again and much easier targets.

6. I think it's because US forces are more active now.
The "Iraqi army" we are "standing up" is as worthless as teats on a bullfrog, so we're back to doing more of the fighting.

I don't think Rummy is killing off US soldiers to get revenge on generals.

4. Look like very very bad month
Sad part is bush still staying the course
Talk about a born loser

Lets see if US goes bankrupt first
Or people kick his ass out first
Or 50,000 thousand dead American soldiers like in Vietnam.

7. Make that Four DEAD
The U.S. military said Sunday that four U.S. Marines were killed in action in Anbar province west of Baghdad on Saturday.

The Marines — three from Regimental Combat Team Five and one from the 2/28 Brigade Combat Team — died Saturday, the military said in two separate statements. Their identities were not released.

9. Hi Roland- do you watch The West Wing?
bluestateguy is a fan of that show, and the Santos/McGarry sign is a fictional presidential race in the show.
It says "brighter" because Santos is a Democrat seeking to replace a Democratic president.

:) And if you already knew this, and were teasing bluestateguy, I apologize!

10. Throw three more on to the pile

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Anbar and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.
