CINCINNATI — A black activist shot on a sidewalk outside City Hall after speaking
to the City Council has died, his family said.

Michael Bailey died Saturday at University Hospital, three days after he was shot
in the leg, arm and chest, relatives said in a news conference.

"Not only has Cincinnati lost a great leader, I have lost my best friend," said
Ted Bailey, his brother. "My brother did fight a very, very valiant fight. He died
with dignity."

1. This is terrible...
The story certainly doesn't give many clues as to what motives the shooter had, other than that weak "he threatened him earlier."

2. It's been a long running feud between the two.

It was certainly nothing to kill the man over.

He was definitely controversial, but he fought hard for his main issue, police brutality/police misconduct.

3. That's odd.
I did a Google search on his name and I got nothing on this guy.

This is the name to google. You should have better search results using that name.

Thanks.

What a senseless tragedy.

6. Your Welcome
and it is indeed a senseless tragedy and a waste of life. The article states that the law enforcers don't know if they will press charges.

A man has been murdered, gunned down, and they don't know if they will press charges.
I guess since the General Oba's main focus was against police brutality, it seems to make sense why the enforcers aren't very interested in the General's justice.....

7. I don't understand.
This article said he was already charged with attempted murder and that the charges will probably be upgraded.

8. I see where the confusion is, I think
I read the article in the original post.

Police did not respond to calls Saturday and Sunday seeking comment on whether an assault charge against the man accused of the shooting would be upgraded.

Howard Beatty, 52, surrendered to police and was charged with felonious assault a few hours after the shooting.

So, I guess they are charging the murderer. The enforcers just decided not to comment over the weekend.

10. Sounds like the murderer's own brother
led them to him.

And the victim's brother is calling for peace.

Restores some of my faith in humanity, anyway.

I hope things get better in Cinci, for all of the decent people who live there .

11. "General" Oba? Do you mean, "Michael Bailey"?
or are we dealing in alternate universes here?

13. According to the article
they are one and the same!

But who knows they could have been dealing in an alternate universe...

15. Let me get this straight..
... Oba threatened this guy some time ago and now he shows up with a gun because he feels "threatened".

Is that this moron's defense? He wouldn't want me on the jury.
