Strickland gives Ohio Democratic Party $350,000

By JIM TANKERSLEY
BLADE POLITICS WRITER

U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine out-raised his likely Democratic opponent in the start of 2006, with a million-dollar assist from President Bush.

U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland, meanwhile, gave his campaign for Ohio governor a boost last month, via a $350,000 check from his congressional war chest to the Ohio Democratic Party.

Mr. DeWine, a two-term Republican from Cedarville, will report this week he raised nearly $2.4 million from Jan. 1 to April 12. His presumed challenger, U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown (D., Avon) will report raising at least $1.25 million in that time, Mr. Brown's campaign estimates.

The difference is slightly more than the estimated $1.1 million Mr. Bush helped Mr. DeWine raise in February at a Cincinnati benefit. Mr. DeWine's quarterly total also includes a January fund-raiser in Washington that featured Vice President Dick Cheney. 3. which is the subject of Ayn Rand's book: 'Anthem'
set in Petrograd, USSR.

I know Rand is not well-liked here on DU, but I can't help but point out the similarities she warned against in her book set in the SOVIET UNION juxtaposed against the current backdrop.

5. add that to the Ohio Worker's Comp fund that DeWine has
already on loan from Tom Noe and Brown is really in a hole. They'll just get some gay rights thing on the ballot and win anyway if they haven't already. Get ready for the $350,000 anti-gay ad blitz.

7. Grab the money now, explain your marriage to Smirky later
Brown will start out-raising DeWine as of now and will probably have as much or more money by the time the campaign really kicks into gear at the end of the summer.

DeWine helps Santorum tap contributors

Ohio Senator Mike DeWine, who faces a tough re-election campaign this year, is helping a fellow Republican senator facing an even tougher campaign: Rick Santorum, a staunch conservative from Pennsylvania.

DeWine is co-hosting a fund-raiser for Santorum later this month at the Independence offices of Umberto Fedeli, an insurance mogul who frequently raises money for candidates who oppose abortion rights.

Fedeli is also one of DeWine’s chief supporters and fundraisers.

A flyer promoting the event lists DeWine, Fedeli, health-care products manufactuer Mal Mixon and Cleveland power broker and attorney Dick Pogue, among others, as hosts...

9. "OPERATION BUSH BRUSH" IS A GO!!!
All Brown has to do is make him sorry for taking that money like New Jersey's Jon Corzine did--a vote for DeWine is a vote for more of the Bush monarchy!
