Columbus -- The famously troubled investment of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation in rare coins has left most state elected offices as tarnished as a weathered penny -- but not the treasurer's office.
That could change.
Republican incumbent Jennette Bradley, who has quietly run the treasurer's office the past 16 months without a hint of intrigue, is suddenly fending off claims by opponents for her job that she missed a chance to uncover the bad coin deals.
Republican Sandra O'Brien, the Ashtabula County auditor, will challenge Bradley in the GOP primary on May 2. Franklin County Treasurer Richard Cordray is unopposed in the Democratic primary with the recent withdrawal of Montgomery County Treasurer Hugh Quill from the race.
