Moussaoui's Mother: "My Life Is Hell'
PARIS (AP) - The mother of Zacarias Moussaoui said Tuesday "my life is hell" as she left France for the United States to be present when a federal jury decides the fate of her son. Moussaoui, a 37-year-old Frenchman of Moroccan descent, is the only person charged in the United States in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The jury is deliberating whether he should be sentenced to death or receive life in prison.

"This has been going on for four years, but now my life is hell. It's hell and that's all," his mother, Aicha El Wafi, told AP Television News at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport.

"I feel too much pain to speak," she said before boarding a flight to Washington.

The federal jury in Alexandria, Va., deliberated for three hours Monday after hearing closing arguments in the six-week trial. Deliberations were to resume Tuesday.

1. I sympathize with her... she's a mother, after all.
I hope she will not suffer hostility while here...

4. I don't believe anyone blames her
I've seen pictures of her outside the courthouse while the trial was in session being hugged by the victim's survivors.

It doesn't seem like many/if any blame her for her idiot son.

he's going to grow up perfect.

I'm sure this woman looked at her son the same way.

3. I've known some AMAZING women...
...whose kids took a wrong turn somewhere and never made it back.

I've also known some less than amazing women whose kids beat the odds and did something great with their lives.

There is a limit to which parents can be blamed...OR credited...when it comes to the lives of their children.

If she endorsed her son's actions, it would be a different story. She sees a monster, just like we do.

5. if there's one thing i HATE about the media universe
it's situations exactly like this -- can't people grieve, mourn, rock their pain in peace?
