D.C. prayer rally to seek lower gas prices
WASHINGTON, April 26 (UPI) -- A U.S. Christian group has grown tired of escalating gasoline prices and is set to stage a national prayer rally to lower the numbers at the pumps.

Various Christian clergy from around the country will convene around a Washington, D.C., gas station Thursday at noon to pray. For those who can't attend, a live Internet site and toll-free prayer line have been established.

In a release, the Pray Live group said many people are "overlooking the power of prayer when it comes to resolving this energy crisis."

Apart from sending a message to God, the rally had a message for humanity, said Wenda Royster, the group's founder.

17. it would be easy to lower gas prices. all we'd have to do as a nation is
unify for a few weeks and absolutely boycott just ONE oil company's products. that would force their prices down, and everyone would be forced to follow suit when we suddenly went to buying from them exclusively. we'd wait until their price hit 1.309, and then boycott all the others.

simple fix, really. but getting Americans to do anything requring discipline is like herding cats.

21. How about praying for lower global temperatures instead?
Dear Jee-zuss...

I can barely afford to put gas in my Hummer H2 that I drive to Church every Sunday and to rallies to keep homo-sex-yew-alls from gettin' married...

Please, I beg you... kill more Dinosaurs. Or make the Muslim infidels give us the oil that as White American Christians belongs to us.

Hear not the prayers of the poor or starving or sick or lame or the cries of those we have bombed into pieces...

Hear us instead...

For I can drive my Hummer through the eye of needle, and I will be welcome by your side in this next world, because I hate everyone my president does.

Amen.

PS: Please drown another city full of poor Black Democrats before November.

"You fucked up this perfectly good earth I created, now you come whining to me to make it easier for you to fuck it up even more. Well, you can just shove it up your ass you ignorant pieces of shit. Now just go back and think about what you have done to yourselves and maybe if you give me a sign that you realize how bad you have fucked everything up, I'll do something to help you."-

I'll just bet that the "toll-free prayer line" is for those who contribute money (to help finance the minister's new hummer.) If all you want is to "pray," they'll likely have you call a toll number. That's the scheme they all use, like the 700 Club, et al.

How come the extraordinary claims about Jesus don't materialize in modern times? Was it all a fairy tale?

instead of praying for lower gas prices so the American consumer can maintain the current level of waste and thoughtless consumption.

From one angle, it's like praying for the strip joint to stay open a few more hours so more patrons may partake.

If they've gotten as far as to acknowledge that there's an energy crisis, praying to lower gas prices so that more oil is consumed isn't going to alleviate the crisis.
