Body Thought to Be Missing Soldier Found

(04-28) 15:17 PDT Savannah, Ga. (AP) --

A body believed to be that of a missing Fort Benning soldier was discovered inside a piece of air conditioning equipment Friday at a downtown hotel after guests complained of a foul odor in the lobby.

A maintenance worker at the DeSoto Hilton hotel found the body.

Spc. Robert Hornbeck, 23, was last seen outside the hotel April 16 after a night of bar-hopping with an Army buddy...

2. He was out of the military within a few days, and married in July.

This is a local story for us.

The last I heard they weren't suspecting foul play, but perhaps alcohol poisoning or drug overdose of some sort.

Especially sad because earlier in the week it was thought he had been spotted alive, hitchhiking on I-16. It was rumored he was possibly getting cold feet or something.
