Tyson, other meat companies expect interruptions from rallies
SPRINGDALE, Ark. Tyson Foods will temporarily close 12 plants nationwide Monday because workers are expected to attend immigration rallies. <snip>

Some Hispanic organizations have called for immigrants not to shop or work May first in protest of proposed stricter legislation on illegal immigration.

Cargill Meat Solutions and Pittsburgh, Texas,-based Pilgrim's Pride also say they expect interruptions.

Cargill says it will temporarily shut down plants. Pilgrim's Pride say it will make scheduling adjustments. <snip>

So anyone who wants to punish companies that hire people who support immigrants, should stop eating meat ...

1. Illustrates how dependant these firms are on illegal practices.
They base their bottom line on hiring fraud. Without it, they cannot continue operations.

They shouldn't return to work on tuesday.

The monday protests will be just as effective as the Live8 concerts about a year ago.

3. Tyson is one that I have boycotted for yrs, Totally boycotted
Many boycotts I slip in a something now and then, but NEVER Tyson. Labor practices are too bad, way too bad. I think it was after a fire at one of their facilities, locked doors, something like that that I wrote them off. Their chicken bits may be much cheaper, but there is no way I will buy them.

5. Their injuries are 2 1/2 times the industry standards. nt
Many injuries aren't even reported, workers are forced to use company doctor's instead of their own.

7. Tyson is now on my list of illegal employers. The workers
should go on strike for better pay. If illegals can protest in the streets for a week and organize a boycott without any major repercussions, than why can't these illegals protest the illegal, inhumane wages they are paid? Here and now is where the Unions need to be. No one is getting deported. No one is getting into major trouble for the protest marches. Why aren't these illegals protesting the awful conditions they work in and the slave wages they get?

9. Gee...Corporate management take a cut in salaries?
Price of meats are outrageous even with illegal immigration wages.

So who profits?...Like the Oil companies, the top management
reaks of profiteering.

12. Should be very telling to see
which companies are suffering on Monday because of their illegal and exploitative hiring practices. I'm going to be boycotting any big companies who squawk about losing labor Monday cause those companies are exploiting people for their own profits.
