Drugs found at home of John Reid (UK's MOD)
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 05:18 AM by maddezmom
A small quantity of a Class C drug has been found at the Scotland home of the Defence Secretary John Reid, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

It is understood Strathclyde Police discovered the drugs during a standard sweep at Mr Reid's property.

The press office says no charges or further action will be taken and that police have finished an investigation.

The BBC understands the drugs - which have not been identified - were thought to be there before Mr Reid moved in.

Interesting, did he just move here or they just missed them during the other "standard sweeps"? :shrug:

~~~~~~~linke updated~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Class C drugs - weighing less than a gram - were found in a guest room. No further police action is expected.
The house is within Mr Reid's former constituency of Hamilton North and Bellsill in Lanarkshire.
1. Since when did the British police
do "standard sweeps" at people's properties? Are they moonlighting as cleaners?
2. its a service
No shit, you can ask the police to come around and search
your property, probably as a minister, for bugs and wire
tap stuff... surely some forgotten cannabis leaf will
break the blair presidency.
3. Presumably this would be a sweep for bugs or bombs..
since he is the defence secretary, he probably gets more looking after by the police than most people!
The story in the link given in the OP now identifies the drug as cannabis.
6. In a way, it's sort of odd it was reported at all.
A policeman finds a speck of cannabis (less than a gram) during a routine search, in an important politician's home. Why wouldn't he just bin it? I guess whichever policeman it was just doesn't like either Reid or New Labour and insisted on doing things by the book.
7. We asked the police to sweep for drugs after we bought a house.
The neighbors told us that there had been a big drug bust there
when the former owners lived there.
The police found traces of weed but no real drugs anywhere.
