Bush: Tough Fighting Still Ahead in Iraq (AP headline from the recyle bin)
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 10:33 AM by BleedingHeartPatriot
Once more the chowderhead in chief is reminding us of all the sacrifices everyone but he, his family and friends, will continue to make.

I do like the sound of the last (bolded) paragraph, though.

edited to add...recycle indeed. This has been a WH talking point at least since Feb. 2005, posted further down the thread.

WASHINGTON - President Bush warned Saturday of tough fighting to come and "more days of sacrifice and struggle" in Iraq as April drew to a close as the deadliest month for American forces this year

"The enemy is resorting to desperate acts of violence because they know the establishment of democracy in Iraq will be a double defeat for them," Bush said in his weekly radio address as he saluted the emergence of a permanent government.

"There will be more tough fighting ahead in Iraq and more days of sacrifice and struggle," he cautioned. "Yet, the enemies of freedom have suffered a real blow in recent days, and we have taken great strides on the march to victory."

With the war in its fourth year, Iraq hovers as a huge problem for Bush, whose approval ratings have fallen to record lows. Republicans are anxious that Iraq — along with other public concerns like soaring gasoline costs — will lead to the GOP losing control of one or even both houses of Congress in November.

1. I thought the mission was accomplished
lets see, three years ago Monday? And all major military operations were over. And just where are all those flowers we would be greeted with; and how bout the Iraqis footing the bill?

And, of course, his solid religiously insane, constitution hating base still loves him because they are sad, pathetic beings.

2. Mission accomplished??
Of course the original mission was accomplished, that was the easy part.. Its the rest of the mission, which was ill defined, that will be the hard part..

I remember reading recently that we were going to RETAKE Bagdad.. Ah, shades of Vietnam.

3. Here's a list of "tough fighting" quotes starting from February 2005.

February 2005. Dan Bartlett
"For us to complete our mission, the Iraqis have to be capable enough to secure their own country and fight the terrorists," he said. "They're not there yet, although they're demonstrating week to week better capabilities. We have a ruthless enemy, and there's going to be tough fighting ahead."

President George W. Bush said Tuesday there will be "more tough fighting ahead" in Iraq, but denied that the country is in the grips of a civil war three years after the U.S. invasion.

4. Great recap, B.
I think everyone sees how they are a 'broken record'. Stan Goff just wrote an article about the Bush administration; he calls them 'vile carnival barkers'.

Who writes this crap? Victory over whom? We can't kill everyone there George. That is the only way you will ensure there is no combat in Iraq.................

7. Imported democracy is not democracy at all
Bush didn't know this of course. Imported democracy never worked.

All the lives lost in this Iraq war were wasted because the president didn't know what he's doing.

Good thing Bush's daughters are not included! Lucky gals!
