http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=ddb2cb1402657e31A switchover to ethanol-blended gasoline in Houston is creating shortages at many service stations.
Mohammed Ali Dhanani, a gasoline distributor and owner of dozens of gas stations, told the Houston Chronicle that 60 percent of his stations had empty tanks late Friday.
It's been a total nightmare, Dhanani said. Many terminals where we get our gas have been down because of the ethanol transition.
The shortages are not a result of Middle East wars or Caribbean hurricanes. Instead, they follow a switch to a new fuel formula containing ethanol, rather than the additive MTBE, which has been blamed for pollution.
