Bolten: White House Must Regain Its 'Mojo'

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

It's time for the White House to go on offense and "get our mojo back." Josh Bolten said Sunday in his first interview since taking over as the president's chief of staff.

Bolten made no promises of pulling up President Bush's all-time low approval ratings, but he said he and Bush have decided they want to be more open with the media and the public.

(snip)

For example, he said the White House is "thinking actively" about immigration and putting the president out front on an issue that has split him off from some in his own party. Bolten added that it is vital that the White House communicate effectively about the importance of the fight against terrorism so Americans will support the mission.

(sniP)

Bolten said it may be worth considering whether to end the daily televised press briefings where reporters and the press secretary frequently air disputes in front of the cameras, but he will leave that decision up to Snow.

2. More open with the media, just not more open with you and me.
If there's no cameras, who knows what was really said or asked?

3. Regain their "mojo"?
Nice that the leaders of the World's most powerful country are relying on Austin Powers movies for their policy decisions now.

Did they ever HAVE ANY mojo?

And yeah, that's a great first step :sarcasm: in being more "open" with the public - end the daily press briefings.

10. I almost fell off my chair when Bolten said "Mojo!"
What the hell is that? What does it have to do with an immoral invasion, death and the cost of gas?

Bolten is already a failure for the Emperor. I am not impressed He doesn't even look good on a motorcycle.

Massive, Outrageous Jerk-Off

Sums up this presidency pretty well already. Guess they need to stop the daily briefings because the old "candle barrels" are already full.

11. Man, usually George says one thing and someone on his staff says the
opposite within hours of each other.

Now we have one staff member saying both things in one interview.

Open? Closed by no coverage? Which will it be.

One thing is for sure - if there is no coverage, then we are moving towards an even more secret state of affairs.

Maybe even Bryan Lamb will speak out against this one - there will be even more gaps in the documenting of our history.

This is despciable.

Me thinks they have already decided this with Snow.

They are pathetic.

But I guess it's hard work covering up your crimes. And you gotta make hard decisions to succeed at covering up.

14. I don't think ever really had any mojo
What they had was the events of 9/11 clouding the judgment of millions of Americans, including the press. People were silent because either they were mourning or they were scared. Slowly, people woke up, cheered up and stopped being afraid. So, I guess the only thing that would give them back what they had before is another war or another attack on our soil.

the press is in the club anyhow and it is all for show and nothing else.

Let the press be excluded. They offer not a damn thing worthwhile to the American people anyhow,

24. That's exactly what Randi Rhodes said would happen
I'm wondering if the press briefings are ended and after the Stephen Colbert "outing" of our "press" whether this would make them hungrier. There is a tipping point and I wonder if we've reached it.

"The Halliburton corporation last week picked up a no-bid contract with the White House to help it find its Mojo. The cost overrun on the project is already close to $4,ooo,ooo,ooo. Congressional democrats have been quiet on the matter...Mr. bush believes that the tube containing his mojo was stolen by Iranian terraists who wanted to use it to create nuculur bombs. The country, already past its 16 day deadline for creating a nuculur bomb, has grown desprit in the past few days to assure its official position in the Axis of Evil."

hey did Fat Bastard steal Comandante's Mojo? Missing Mojo! Dayum, not even mojo is safe anymore.

Sounds like they are not so sure about the "Snow job's" ability to handle the Press...hummmmmmmm

Maybe Colbert put the fear of "a working Press" into them?

Are they afraid that the Press may be shamed into actually doing their job?

Nah.
