Frmr. VP Dan Quayle walks out of Mellencamp show
...and no one cares.

Mellencamp, unaware that Quayle was in the audience, introduced the song "Walk Tall" by saying, "This next one is for all the poor people who've been ignored by the current administration."

Quayle, who was in town for a celebrity golf tournament, then made his exit, deciding "enough was enough," his spokesman, Craig Whitney, told the Los Angeles Times for Friday's edition. "He wasn't going to sit there and listen to this."

3. Yeah, I had to add the "Frmr VP" part for the younger audience...
...who might not remember what is essentially the only thing he's remembered for:

Hell, my age was still in the single digits at the time and I remember thinking, "What a dummy."

5. Johnny B. Goode!!!
Kudos to J.C. Mellencamp for all his outspokeness against the rat bastards! He, Jimmy Buffett, Jon Bon Jovi, Tim & Faith, and of course, The Dixie Chicks have incurred some good damage at their own risk, ($$$)... GOTTA LUV 'EM!!!

11. but even I, well into my 40s during the SOB's reign, had totally
forgotten that Quayle was his VP. Yesterday I saw something that said "former VP Quayle" and was actually dumbfounded and had to look it up on Google. If anyone had asked me who GWHB's VP was, I would have stammered and stuttered like an idiot. lol.

10. Remember, Reagan wanted to license "Pink Houses" as a 1984 campaign song!

(I think Mellencamp's response was "Have you ever listened to the words???" This was right between the Reagan campaign's attempts to do the same with "Born in the U.S.A." and some song by Billy Joel, who directed them to "Allentown." :eyes:)

17. She's the one with the money
If I remember right her family use to own the Indianapolis Star or some other major midwest newspaper? Anyways one time I was at a grocery store on the north side of Indianapolis and all of a sudden these guys in black suits are all running around the store and I asked someone working there what's going on and I'm told those are secret service agents and all of a sudden Mrs. Quayle comes by me pushing a grocery cart shopping.

20. Danny's Mom was a Pulliam
Pulliam's owned the Star & News many years ago. Don't know much about his wife except she was smarter than Danny. Kinda of like Laura Bush is smarter than *. The indy radio stations used to poke fun at Danny, then Clear Channel bought the stations.

12. sheesh, what a frikkin sissy-boy! JCM's remark was hardly radical
or even mean or tough. Looks like Quayle is a stupid wimp who still hides under the bed from the boogeyman.
Watch out, Danny! Somebody might say something "unkind" about the stupidest, most worthless, greediest, laziest, most insipid and uninspiring, least committed to the good of the people, most selfish, most narcissistic, and most totally unelected "president" the country has ever had.

14. Hey Dan, "You can't stand the truth." I'm sure Mellencamp could
care less. Actually, as a Hoosier, he was probably happy that the state's embarrassment fled quickly.

It's right up there with the Grand Canyon as a "must see" for me, but I just haven't found the time yet. B-)

22. If Mellencamp had been aware that Quayle was in the audience he probably
would have made a bigger dig and looked Quayle in the eye while doing it. He never has struck me as being shy about what he thinks. B-)

23. One eyewitness, who declined to be named, stated that Mr. Quayle
was actually looking for a men's room and left the concert by mistake. "The political walk-out story is just a cover for the fact that he couldn't tell the difference between "Men" and "Exit". He doesn't spell so good, you know."
