Clinton says Bush years 'hard on science'

BOSTON --New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday that scientific and medical advances in fields including embryonic stem cell research are being held back by a White House that puts ideology and theology ahead of facts and evidence.

"The last 5 1/2 years have been hard on science ... and particularly hard because of the president's veto last week," Clinton told 5,000 attendees at the World Transplant Congress in Boston.

President Bush vetoed legislation on Wednesday that would have increased federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, even though public opinion polls have shown that most Americans disagree with the president.

Embryonic stem cell research could lead to cures for diseases, including Alzheimer's, diabetes, cancer and Parkinson's, supporters say. Opponents consider an embryo a human life.

2. Hillary just isn't mad enough
Haven't we had enough of this "hard on science" type of tippy-toeing? When I hear words like "disastrous" and "criminal" and "accountability" and "impeach" and "censure" coming from her mouth, I will take her seriously...

17. She agrees with enough of the right wing agenda to where
I wouldn't be much surprised.

Before I get flamed on that, I want to ask: how many of you have seen her speak on the issues in person? She vowed in front of me that the war against Iraq is improving womens' rights and giving women new hope in the middle east.

A few months later I witnessed two Iraqi unionists who I also went to go see speak tell me womens' rights had slipped backwards past even the 1950's.

I wonder who I should trust: the iraqi workers who risked death against Saddam to fight for their rights or the pampered warmonger, the wife of the man who starved about a million Iraqis to death.

19. Thanks, I supporter her opponent Tasini
I'm not even in New York, but I'm tired of the face of war representing the Democrats. Tasini has a good heart and puts his money (what little he has) where his mouth is.

5. Actually, what about US. Why aren't WE out protesting?
Why do we continue to sit lazily and expect others to do our work for us? WE are the bosses in this democracy!

15. She is just evading the US/ISRAEL war that she supports so much.
Science????

She cares now???

Science Programs in Colleges across the country have been cut right and left since 2001 and she just begins to notice. Cut me some slack.
And she cares now?
In 2001 to 2002 there have been more micro-biologist selectively killed
than any other profession.
And she cares now?
The FDA has backed off testing for mad cow disease since 2002.
And she cares now?
Global Warming Issue has been known for the last twenty years.
And she cares now?

Science? I know a hell alot more than she will ever know.

Will I divulge to you what I know?
I don't divulge personal information!

All those dead people in Iraq
