American peace activists arrive in Iraq

Baghdad, Iraq-AP -- American activists are on a private peace mission in Iraq.

The group includes some who have lost family members in the current conflict, as well as veterans.

Meden Benjamin helped organize the peace campaign and says it took two months to arrange it.

According to Benjamin, the group had trouble with the U-S military, which he says at first didn't want them in Iraq. Benjamin says that opinion has apparently changed. (snip/...)

A funny typo in this story got the reporter citing "Meden Benjamin" of Global Exchange, and calling that activist a "he." It's "MEDEA BENJAMIN" and she's a she!

2. I am actually suprized (and pleased) that she made it to Iraq

. . of course I am NOT suprized that the Military didn't want her there

. . but my unending distrust of the BFEE wonders why the BFEE "allowed" the visit

I have a fear that the BFEE has an agenda involved here.

BEST WISHES to Medea Benjamin and her group

Go Gurl !!

she also started a group called Code Pink -- Women for Peace

<clips>

One year ago the Women's Peace Vigil began in Washington D.C. in opposition to the war in Iraq. Today, CODEPINK collectives exist in more than 100 communities around the globe. We have developed a reputation of being unruly and unreasonable for peace. Check out how we have grown! | Host or join a CODEPINK house party for the groundbreaking documentary "Uncovered: The Truth About the Iraq War." | CODEPINK's work in Iraq has helped build an incredible network and we recently hosted Iraqi women on a speaking tour of the U.S. | Click here to view a powerful, disturbing and important expression of the human cost of Iraq.

4. She really ought to start wearing a cape and tights...
...with a big 'M' on her chest.

One day, she's in Florida for FTAA, the next, in NYC for an interview, then the day after, off to Iraq.

I've wondered, actually: does she have access to some sort of teleportation technology? :D
