At Least 1 Soldier Killed in Attacks on Convoys near Samarra
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20031202/wl_mideast_afp/iraq_us_samarra_attack&cid=1514&ncid=1480

<snip>RIGGA, Iraq (AFP) - At least one US soldier was killed when two almost simultaneous bomb attacks hit convoys near the Iraqi town of Samarra, scene of deadly clashes between troops and insurgents two days ago, a US officer at the scene told AFP.

"There was one soldier killed," said the clearly distressed officer, who declined to give his name or elaborate.

Reporters said the convoy was escorting a truck carrying a damaged Apache helicopter from Samarra south to Baghdad. The aircraft had a large hole in its rear but it was unclear whether it was accidental or through enemy action.

Witness Kanaan Kanel Kanaani told reporters that the last vehicle in the dozen-strong convoy, a Humvee, was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade or a mine.

"The driver lost control and the vehicle veered across the road, crashing into a parked pickup loaded with oranges," said Kanaani. "One soldier was killed."

1. "BRING EM ON" cried the Cowardly war Criminal
Nice job of releasing the news. It seems like the U.S. Army learned a few lessons from PRAVDA over the past few months.

Disgusting

The news doesn't change much these days.....still soldiers dying, Iraqis dying, fuzzy numbers and details from the US. Thank goodness for LBN to help us sort fact from fiction!

:hi:

3. Thanks LC
It does look that way. Every day one or two. Sometimes more--sad and depressing. The only way this will stop is for the economy to go in the tank. The population is getting used to these deaths like it accepts highway fatalities.

KEEP THE FAITH

And thanks:-)

5. Hey, don't give pravda a bad name. They have been reeducated
since the fall of the Soviet Union. They are more or less trusted news agency now.
As for the incident, the question arises "Do they take us for idiots or what? Where was this chopper shot? How many people died there?

. . "aircraft had a large hole in its rear but it was unclear whether it was accidental or through enemy action. "

????

Large hole in the rear - not likely "accidental"

anyone explain to me how a large hole could "appear" in the back of a HeliChopper by "accident"

oh

They "accidentaly" got hit ?

Methnks the USA is playing down it's vulnerability to fighting their "occupants"

They did that for 10 years in Viet Nam, and cost almost 60,000 young Americans their lives, nevermind how many hundreds of thousands American lives were ruined as well -

Just My Humble Canuk Opinion

8. I just do not believe anything they say anymore.
The news is not coming out right any more. George is worried and they need to clean up what we hear. It is like we hear one thing and other things are really going on. Very sad.The men shot are often dead in a week and we do not hear that, and they just tell us who was killed if they have to do that.

12. If you're not up early you can't find these reports
If I didn't know where to look I wouldn't know anything about this. I have to go to lunaville directly now to find out what in the hell has happened over night.
They had the report of another American soldier killed, Yahoo is trumpeting the story that one of saddam's top guys was either arrested or killed they hadn't filled out the report yet.
I see also where they are bringing back the body count, that should really endear us to the arabic world. Fifty nine to five hundred dead, think we'll be there by christmas? Think anyone will give a rat's ass?

14. SARUMAN TO "TAKE CONTROL" OF IRAQ
The diplomat also noted that Saruman's
"extensive history of successful orc management
should provide him with excellent experience as
he deals with the rather brutish Iraqi rabble." The
move also allows the embattled Bush administration
to shed an increasingly unpopular military
conflict "without kowtowing to those insufferable
fairies at the UN," the diplomat added.
