The Ministry of Defence confirmed today that another British soldier
has been killed in action in Afghanistan, the 15th since June.

The soldier, who has not yet been named, was killed during a raid
by insurgents at 4pm (1230 BST) in the volatile Helmand province.
A second soldier was seriously injured.

"It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence must confirm
the death of a British soldier in Afghanistan today," the ministry
said in a statement.

"The soldier was killed during an attack by insurgents in northern
Helmand, Afghanistan, at 1600 local time. A further soldier was
seriously injured in the attack, and has been evacuated to a
medical facility for treatment.
