Inclusive debates proposed (Lieberman seeks 5-way events)
http://www.connpost.com/news/ci_4279217

WASHINGTON — Ned Lamont's Democratic primary victory over Sen. Joe Lieberman has turned Connecticut politics upside down.

Lieberman is offering to debate his opponents this election cycle, including minor party candidates, as often as they like — a rarity for incumbents, who typically dodge such events, thinking they provide unnecessary exposure to their opponents.

<SNIP>

"While couched in a spirit of fairness, the reality is it is a political ploy on his part to diminish his competition," Rose said.

"It's unusual for incumbents who have a comfortable lead to call for a debate, but in this case, where Lieberman is fighting for his political life, it may be a good move because it makes him appear more aggressive," Quinnipiac University law professor John Pavia said. "It appears to be part of a continuing strategy."

Or desperate -- poor Zell, I mean Joe...

What a putz.

1. Yup, he's hoping to make Lamont look as inconsequential
as the Green party candidate, or even, lol the GOP candidate.

2. I wouldn't include Lieberman in the debates..........
just like they wouldn't include Ralph Nader in the Presidential debates (I'm no Nader fan by the way). Only the two affiliated candidates should be allowed to debate the issues. I'm sure Holy Joe participated in that exclusion of Nader, it was to his benefit then. But of course those rules wouldn't apply to Holy Joe now, he's s-p-e-c-i-a-l. :eyes:

By the way, I'm not REALLY suggesting that third party candidates be excluded from debates. I'm just applying the same rules that both the Democrats and Republicans applied during the Presidential debates in 2000 and 2004. What's good for the goose........

4. Lieberman knows Lamont will destroy him.......
in any debates, because he will be forced to defend this disastrous war.

Leib attempts to water down the debate, the more debaters fewer questions and answers.
Also, the debate topics will be watered down so that no one will get a sense of anyones' stand on any issues.

He wants to go in with a lead, make the debates uninformative and substance free, and come out with a lead.

5. I just received a snail mail announcement from Feinstein that she is
formally supporting Lamont. Joe is toast if she is willing to go to such lengths and expense to disassociate herself from him.

isn't that what they want? they won't support Schlesinger (sp?)

I would prefer he just drop out -- but Lamont is going to swab the deck with Holy Joe!

7. Go home, Joe. Nobody thinks you're worth a crap except the Repugs
You've been rejected. Acting more and more pissy is just making people more contemptuous of you.
