(al-Saeed)al-Qaida in Iraq No. 2 Arrested in June (not Sunday)
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 08:02 AM by maddezmom
BAGHDAD, Iraq -- The arrest of al-Qaida in Iraq's second in command took place in June, and not a few days ago as the Iraqi government had initially announced, a U.S. military spokesman said Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell said Hamed Jumaa Farid al-Saeedi, also known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, was captured on June 19. Other suspects were in custody, he said, but their names have not yet been made public.

National Security Adviser Mouwafak al-Rubaie announced al-Saeedi's arrest Sunday, saying it had occurred a few days earlier.

But Caldwell said al-Saeedi had been captured in June, and it was permission to make the arrest public that had been given a few days before.

Caldwell said the arrest was the most significant since the death of al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in a U.S. airstrike, which also occurred in June.

2. What other news are they sitting on
that they'll "coincidently" release
in the midst of an election???

And what news are they fabricating?

Seems to be an awful lot of fake news lately
coming from the republican goon squad.

7. Hell, even Leno was making fun of the #2 capture last night
What did he say? "#2 captured for the 28th time". The whole Bush** prosecution of the debacle is turning into a joke that even the mainstream get. It'd be funny if not for the horrific costs.

8. So depends when he was captured relative to Zarqawi being killed.
If it was after, wouldn't he #1 at the time?

9. Wow, that's a good point.
If it was before, that might make him the chump messenger-boy who al Qaeda sent to rat out Zarqawi in the first place.
