Fight for DeLay's seat expected to be costly

By SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- To hang onto former Rep. Tom DeLay's seat, Republicans must teach voters to write in their candidate's name. Democrats have to win over a heavily Republican district.

For both parties, those challenges are going to take lots of money.

While Democratic candidate Nick Lampson has been raising money steadily since he won the nomination in March, the Republican Party is starting from scratch with a little-known write-in candidate and no firm commitment from the national party to pitch in.

DeLay's seat, long considered safe for a Republican, now could be up for grabs and one of the factors deciding which party will end up in the majority in the U.S. House.

2. "repubs Must Teach Voters To Write In Candidate's Name..."
This will be Extremely difficult, given the high number of MORONS that vote repub. Combine that with the fact they're probably tobacco chewing Texas hicks, and it could be a problem.

4. And thats Our fault ,the only currency that should create an image is
the percentage of decisions benefiting the candidate, as opposed to ones made for the people.

5. This is turning out to be a circus
Not only does the GOP have to tell voters to write in the long hyphenated name on the regular ballot, they have to tell voters when they vote for the long hyphenated name on the special ballot that that vote is not enough. They are not finished. The voters are going to be so confused.

To add to the confusion is that the long hyphenated name is not the only name on the special ballot. There are four more names, and a few of them are very well known.

Only in Sugarland.

6. Can a third party person win this seat? Could the Repubs vote Libertarian?
There is a lot of republicans in Sugarland I don't think they will just vote for the Democratic candidate just because the Republican isn't on the ballot. I hope Nick wins this which will help in taking over the House, but I still don't see it as a sure thing.
