(CNSNews.com) - The leader of a pro-life group called Thursday for the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, citing Rumsfeld's "arrogance" and "failed policies."
Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said the nation is losing confidence in Rumsfeld's leadership, which is "hindering the Administration's war on terror."
"It is important for the faith community to speak out passionately concerning the war in Iraq without the trappings of political partisanship. It has now become clear that the failed policies of Secretary Rumsfeld are putting our troops at great risk," said Mahoney in a news release.
"They are also increasing the likelihood of a civil war in Iraq which would be disastrous for the war on terror and the Iraqi people," said Mahoney, who accused Rumsfeld of failing to acknowledge his "flawed" planning that, Mahoney charged, only increases "the risk of failure and more violence in the future."
