Romney vetoes bill designed to protect worker's wages
BOSTON --Gov. Mitt Romney vetoed a bill Thursday that would have have let workers who aren't paid on time by their employers to file a complaint with the attorney general seeking triple the amount of lost pay and benefits.

Lawmakers approved the law in an attempt to protect workers' rights, but Romney said the bill was too harsh and that ordering triple damages should be used only in very limited instances.

He also said the bill would hurt small business and gave judges too little discretion.

2. So a business with a cash-flow problem is a day late paying its
workers, who then sue and put the business in bankruptcy. As a result, they all end up unemployed.

Better solution, put a wealth tax on politicians with a family net worth over $500 Million and pay the workers with that.

3. A day late and they are calling in the lawyers. I think you are posting
on the wrong forum. Try posting a real solution for egregious worker abuse if you can instead of spouting Republican talking points.

9. Oh yeah, yours is a real solution. Now back to reality folks, my question
still stands, what do you plan to do about egregious worker abuse other than spouting hackneyed Republican talking points? Your extreme conservative bias is very apparent across threads.

11. Typical Republican
Make sure that there's never an incentive to either go after an abusive employer (or corporation) -and make sure there's no incentive for them to follow the law.

12. I ran a small business for 18 years.
A small retail game store and my people always got paid. No they didn't make much money, but they always got their checks on time or early. When things got bad, I was the one who didn't draw a check, everyone else got paid on time. It's absolute B.S. to be late in paying your employees, taxes, suppliers or other vendors.

Ah, yes: another great example of the republican "man of God" doing what comes naturally - protect the rich and those with power, while screwing the working little guy. Gotta love 'em. So many repub "Christians" in Congress - so little time to acquire all the wealth of the country for themselves.
