White House: Bin Laden tape likely authentic

WASHINGTON, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The latest video tape of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is likely authentic, the White House said on Friday.

"Osama Bin Laden apparently providing a reminder yesterday in the tape that was aired on al Jazeera," White House spokesman Tony Snow said of the tape that aired on Thursday.

"We have no reason at this point to believe it is not legitimate," he added. "It's pretty clear that members of the terror network certainly have no desire to cease and desist.

Snow also said he did not know if President George W. Bush had seen the tape. "But he's certainly aware of it."

It was so bad, I was suprised they aired it. They so called "terrorism experts" pontificated about its significance. Apart from the usual fear mongering, this release is obviously meant to counter the spreading realization that 911 had to be an inside job.
