NEW YORK - ABC faced growing pressure Friday about its planned miniseries on the buildup to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Former Clinton administration officials, historians and a Democratic petition with nearly 200,000 signatures urged the network to scrap it.


The network said the movie is being edited to deal with concerns that it distorts history and had no response to the calls to abandon it.

A group of historians, including Arthur Schlesinger Jr. and Princeton University's Sean Wilentz, wrote to ABC parent Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger, urging him to scrap the series. They said that permitting inaccuracies to heighten drama is "disingenuous and dangerous."

And featured in this Australian promo is that big lie scene that shows the Clinton administration choosing not to go after Bin Laden, while the voiceover announces he could have been stopped and “how one decison changed our world.” The opening sequence also has the words “The Official True Story” over the backdrop of the twin towers.

If Clinton is responsible for the 9/11 attack as I have heard it to be portrayed in this docu-drama that is passed off as fact. Then would that make Reagan, and the extensions of his policies in Bush Sr., responsible for the '93 WTC bombing. Would that also make them weak on terrorism, would that also make them weak on national security. Since the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon in '83 they should have had enough time to do something about bin-Laden correct? Qaddafi is still alive, just like bin-Laden right? Why is it those two are still out and about and the perpetrators of crimes during the Clinton administration are in jail. Why do republicans fail at bringing justice? But mostly the '93 WTC bombing should make Regan-Bush weak on national security and terrorism.

President Bush has asked broadcast networks to clear time for an address to the nation Monday night at 9:01 p.m., just at the start of the last hour of "The Path to 9/11" on the East Coast. ABC announced plans Friday night to cover what is expected to be a 20-minute speech before resuming the film.

Gee, I wonder what might get cut at that point -- a certain PDF, perhaps?
