(AP) Facing an unprecedented challenge from three well-known opponents, incumbent Republican Gov. Rick Perry is drawing some flak in his bid for a second full four-year term from those who should be among his strongest supporters: staunch GOP conservatives.
"I think a bunch are so upset with Perry they may not vote at all in the governor's race," said Norman Adams, a Harris County insurance executive and longtime party activist.

Adams and those who share his sentiment also say it's unlikely their estrangement threatens Perry's expected return to the governor's mansion.
Barring a "meltdown of biblical proportions," Bettencourt said, Perry will head into the Nov. 7 election with a "worst case" 35 percent of the vote thanks to Republican straight-ticket voters.
