GOP, Dems spar over Bush speech on 9/11

By MARY DALRYMPLE, Associated Press Writer 4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Republicans and Democrats tore into each over war policy Tuesday, set off by a presidential speech the White House insisted was nonpolitical. A GOP leader said Democrats seemed "more interested in protecting the terrorists" than shielding fellow Americans.

The Democrats contended the president had used a prime-time address commemorating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to make partisan arguments bolstering support for the
Iraq war.

"I wonder if they are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people," said House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. "They certainly do not want to take the terrorists on and defeat them."

Trading barbs, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, who had criticized the president's speech as inappropriately political, called Boehner's criticism "cynical tactics."

1. Suggested response
Offered to the Democrats, free of charge:

As usual, the Republicans are trying to cry foul after committing their own offense. President Bush is hardly above partisan politics; indeed, it's been the hallmark of his failed administration and its reckless foreign policy for years. The Majority Leader is making a cynical bid to close off discussion after his side has its turn at bat. The president once again failed to make his case to the American people, and Mr. Boehner clearly knows that. And if he wants to insinuate that by questioning the failed policies of the incompetent Bush administration I am somehow siding with the terrorists, I invite him to meet me in the venue of his choosing to strap on a pair of 16 ounce gloves, and I'll treat him like he thinks I'd treat a terrorist. How about it, Mr. Boehner?

4. Diversionary Tactic from the Blatant Lies of That Mocumentary

But yes... Bush politicizing 9-11 as a justification for staying in Iraq confirms what we already know. Bush lied America into Iraq and never bother to get Bin Laden. Bush has always used 9-11 as an excuse, and I seriously doubt Bush cares whether Bin Laden is captured or not. Bush's eyes have always been on that "prize" (IRAQ's OIL).

5. WASTE.OF.TIME. Don't confuse whining with winning...
Dems need to commit to a game plan that nationalizes Bush's incompetence, and republican legislators concurrence with it, not Bush's fondness for partisan politics.

Accusing Bush of using 911 for partisan reasons is like accusing bears of taking a dump in the woods. EVERYONE KNOWS IT, AND NO ONE REALLY EXPECTS OTHERWISE!

Freedom in the middleast??? For UBL maybe. All these years and billions of dollars later and that criminal UBL IS STILL FREE to cause havoc!

The US CANNOT AFFORD 100% SECURITY. Prolonging failure in Iraq does nothing to dissuade those who wish to kill us.

Many Katrina victims are living in polluted environments behind barbed wire while incompetents in patronage positions are still proving everyday that big government is bad.

Children are not only being left behind...Our CHILDREN AND GRAND CHILDREN ARE BEING GIFTED WITH TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF THEIR SHARE OF CURRENT NATIONAL DEBT in order to stovepipe capital to the already wealthy.

The ELDERLY ARE TRANSFERRING THEIR SAVINGS INTO DONUT HOLES while CORPORATIONS ARE GETTING TAX ADVANTAGES TO MOVE THEIR OPERATIONS OUT OF THE COUNTRY!!!

GET.THE.FRIGGIN.MESSAGE!! STAY ON IT!!

Q: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT: I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

9. our leaders MUST STAY ON MESSAGE. the thugs are GROWING TERRORISTS
and there have been many many more terrorist attacks since they took office. on their watch, we suffered 9-11, where our rethuglican leaders did NOTHING to stop the planes from hitting the towers, did NOTHING to stop the plane (or whatever it was) from hitting the Pentagon. under rethug leadership thousands suffered needlessly when the administration IGNORED the growing storm and the worst possible scenario happened. under the rethug leadership we have more terrorsts, suicide bombers, and fear THAN AT ANY TIME IN OUR HISTORY.

the thugs use the SAME tactics as the terrorists to control Americans... fear. fear fear fear. that's all they have to offer! no security, no sense of safety, only fear. the same exact tactic is used by the terrorists! why do the rethugs and the terrorists both thrive on fear?
