John Hall for Congress, 2oo6

NEW YORK -- John Hall, leader and chief songwriter for the rock group Orleans, handily won the Democratic primary for the race for Congress in upstate New York on Tuesday....

***

Hall co-authored such Orleans hits as "Still the One" and "Dance With Me," as well as "Half Moon" for Janis Joplin. He was a chief organizer of the "No Nukes" concert and film in 1979.

After winning the primary by a wide margin, Hall will now take on GOP incumbent Sue Kelly. The district includes parts of Westchester, Putnam and Orange counties.

Hall is running on an antiwar and pro-environmental platform, and received support on the campaign trail from Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and Steve Earle, among others. Kelly is known as a moderate Republican on most issues, and the district has favored the GOP in the past.

If enough like him picked up the challenge you might even get a decent White House Band. :)

13. thanks for linking to the take19 website . . .
I didn't know about it . . . this is something that needs to get some publicity in the district so voters can learn the truth about Kelly . . . we have a real chance of picking up this seat, imo . . .

15. John S. Hall is way cool.
Everybody likes John!

He makes the best fuckin' songs ...
He makes the best fuckin' songs ...
If I ever meet him, I'm gonna shake him and say THANK YOU ...
THANK YOU for making such EXCELLENT fucking songs!

He IS a sensative artist, after all.

... okay, sorry - just had to drop some Missile lyrics in here, and I'll be damned if I'll make an obvious "Detachable Penis" reference.

26. haha!
Yeah, "Penis" is a great song, but it's funny how that became King Missile's one "mainstream" hit!

For some classic John S. Hall, I can never recommend enough classics like King Missile's "Mystical Shit" album, or 1991's "John S. Hall & Kramer: Real Men". God I still laugh out loud every time I hear "The Birds."

I live right outside NYC and have had the leasure of seeing John solo and with Missile a half a dozen times. It's good to know that John is a vocal and active liberal.

:)

But I'm glad he's a good Dem, and not gone Repuke like so many of them.............

Also, when it said "John Hall" my brain thought of Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates, lol!!!!!!!

brain dead... I mean, really, they were huge when Pat was in his 30's, he doesn't know even who they ARE? Even I know who some of the big pop/rap acts are even they I've never listened to a song for more than 5 seconds.

8. this is my district, and John has a great chance of unseating . . .
Rep. Sue Kelly, a totally nondescript Bush toady . . . this is a race that no one has on their "possible Dem pickups" list, so please support John's candidacy if you can . . . every Congressional District is critical in November, and here's a chance for an unexpected Dem win . . .

(btw, we vote on the old fashioned lever machines) . . .

Unfortunately, it doesn't ID the individual band members. Surely somebody remembers the band back then?
