BUSH BASHING BOOM IN BEVERLY; TURNOUT FOR HILTON MEETING PASSES 'WILDEST EXPECTATIONS'

Hollywood's New Generation power and money brokers gathered Tuesday night in Beverly Hills to organize and streamline fundraising efforts to unseat President Bush.

"We're going to take our country back!" declared a voice in the crowd, which was greeted by cheers at the Hilton. "Bush is the great unifier! We are unified against him and his policies!"

Organizers claimed attendance -- and financial pledges resulting from the event -- surpassed their "wildest expectations."

Activist Laurie David came out swinging during a press conference before the proceedings, citing a report in this space which revealed the existence of an invitation headed "'Hate Bush 12/2 - Event."

While drawing distance from the electronic invite , David, nevertheless, explained how "Hate Bush" served as a surprising rallying call to gather on the boulevards.

"Tonight's meeting was organized on behalf of Americans Coming Together and the Media Fund," David told the cameras.

"The piece that ran on the Drudge Report was completely inaccurate in the characterization of this meeting and was a total misrepresentation of what we are doing here tonight. In fact, tonight's meeting is a private gathering for friends and colleagues to learn more about what they can do to elect a Democratic president and Democrats across the country.

"But the real story is the enormous response we got from this community once word got out of this meeting. It's obvious there's a strong desire to change the national leadership of our country.

"So, I want to thank Mr. Drudge for helping turn a small gathering of political activists into a very large gathering of political activists. Now that's grass roots at work!"

2. Its funny that the evil Hollywood people conspiring to destroy America
is a real fear of the right, but THE SECRET ENERGY MEETINGS and CONSPIRING OF ENERGY GIANTS is fine and dandy.

3. Thanks Matt Drudge!
The right-wing uproar over this event caused attendance to treble, with a corresponding increase in contributions to A.C.T.

Just goes to show, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

4. I happened upon Rush Limbaugh by accident while driving....
He called it "Bush hating" and quoted Drudge and NewsMax. Rush said it was so bad it would make one sick to listen to these anti-Americans.
