Bush to news conference in Rose Garden

President Bush faced questions Friday about sharp divisions among Republicans about the war on terrorism and disputes over his proposed strategies for interrogating and trying enemy combatants.

Bush is to hold a late-morning news conference in the Rose Garden.

The session came one day after rebellious Republicans led the Senate Armed Services Committee in rejecting Bush's proposal for interrogating and prosecuting terrorism suspects. The dissident group, led by Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record), R-Ariz., said Bush's approach would jeopardize the safety of U.S. troops.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell joined with McCain's group. Powell said Bush's proposal to redefine the Geneva Conventions would encourage the world to "doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism" and "put our own troops at risk."

9. Some questions for Mr. Bush at this crucial juncture:
"If you knew John McCain had fathered an illegitimate child with a black woman, would you be more or less inclined to veto his bill which enjoys more support in the Senate than your pro-torture bill?"

"When you leave office, will you return to your origins in New England?"

"Historically, it's often a bad sign when military personnel question their commander-in-chief. Any chance that history is repeating itself, and the military commanders are right and you're wrong?"

"Angela Merkel publicly questioned the moral basis for black sites. Does she need another neck massage?"

"So how's that Mars initiative coming along?"

11. Hey there, babylonsister. A happy Friday to ya and a ringing howdy, too.
Yep -- David and Helen have been roasting Bush's hind end here for a while now. Bless 'em both. The little fool has never really been ever to stand up on his own two feet. He's been propped up by daddy's bank accounts and KKKarl Rove's filthy cheating shenanigans.

And after yesterday's big slap in the face from Warner/McCain/Collins/& Graham, he's probably fit to be tied.

This one could be darned entertaining!

:hi:

12. Will His Majesty say that Powell and McCain are "confused"?
CNN had a former commander of our forces in Iraq this morning (I can't remember his name), and he strongly supports Powell and he accused Condi Rice of using double speak in her despicable letter defending Bush's proposal.

The supreme irony is to see the military turn on Bush!

14. I hope someone asks him about Ford Motor. Getting him off terror
will throw him for a loop and make him say something he hasn't given one thought to (not that he thinks at all). It will be hilarious.
