A spokesperson for the Law Offices of Blake Horwitz, the firm that brought the suit on behalf of Stone was quoted as saying, "This is just the latest in a string of illicit activities perpetrated by members of the Harvey Police Department against its citizenry. Ms. Stone has shown great bravery by standing up and letting this injustice be heard." The Harvey Police Department has had over 40 lawsuits filed against its officers within the previous four years. These suits have alleged actions that include, but are not limited to: coercing sex and sexual acts from individuals, malicious prosecution, the fabrication of evidence and statements, the use of excessive force, and the perpetual harassment of innocent individuals.
