Strickland gets ex-president's help
\
Sunday, September 17, 2006
Mark Naymik
Plain Dealer Politics Writer

Former President Bill Clinton, in a brief stop Saturday in Cleveland, blamed Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell for Ohio's voting problems during the state's close 2004 presidential election.

Campaigning for Democrat Ted Strickland, Clinton referred to Blackwell, the state's chief election officer, as a "fellow whose main credential as a Republican is that he tried to disempower so many people." ...

"You know, at the end of your life, you think about all the things they can put on your tombstone," he said. "One thing they'll never be able to put on mine or Ted's is He tried to keep people from voting.' "

Fresh off a plane from Austin, Texas, where he attended a memorial service for former Democratic Texas Gov. Ann Richards, Clinton easily transitioned to a campaign mode, boosted by chants of "four more years" and the upbeat Randy Newman song "Burn On," an ode to the city's infamous burning river...

2. Is he convinced already that the elections were stolen?
Or is he of the school of thought that says that there were lots of problems and glitches, but that those weren't enough to make a difference, even though many haven't yet been investigated - if only because many are only getting public attention years after the fact...?

7. What would wrong with a leading Democrat to say the election was
stolen. There is certainly enough proof to back up that statement..

22. He appears to be saying pretty clearly
That Blackwell deliberately tried to keep people from voting. The problem is that the Repukes steal votes, then they are in charge of the investigations. It looks like Blackwell is through in politics; after this wipeout, he won't be able to be elected dogcatcher. And when the Dems take over, they have to be RUTHLESS in ferreting out Repuke operatives in the election system.

Fire them all and let the courts sort it out.

5. He did what he needed to do to stick to the point, Blackwell
vs Strickland. However, has anyone have any quotes from him denouncing the machines? Repbulican hardware, software, and all the other stuff related to the machines - fixers, closets, etc/? Hope so. I know he has to be careful and leave it up to technicians and others to create the groudswell, but I hope someone has heard him talk about the ongoing problem.

about your "adopted mom's" son having stolen both the 2000 and 2004 elections.

17. In this month's New Yorker, he trashes both Gore and Kerry as losers
unlike the GREAT AND WONDERFUL Clinton - twice in one article - the second time linking them to Dukakis, Mondale and McGovern. Oh, and only Hillary has the strength to win in 2008.

I don't know what I would do without DU! I come here for hope, and being in Columbus, and knowing Blackwell will try to steal his way to being Gov., this makes me hopeful.

-Something Clinton also said in the speech, saw on local Channel 8 news- "...talked about Ohio as the key political state and how he sees Republicans shaping the debate."

13. Where ya been, BIG DOG?????
This fire's been raging since ----well, since your Veep got robbed.

I love ya Billy, but you deserve a little slap on the wrist for not speaking up on such matters more as you cruise the country as Bush Sr.'s adopted son.

Your legacy is being defamed and destroyed, your country is under attack from the gubment, and you go into biz with the Cabal? Shameful blight on your wonderful legacy.

Thanks for thinking of us again, though.
