Iran blows away Bush's warm words at UN
Iran's hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made an unbridled attack last night on the foreign policies of Britain and America and in particular the invasion of Iraq.

---

"The occupation of countries including Iraq has continued for the last three years," he said. "Not a day goes by without hundreds of people being killed in cold blood. . . the occupiers are incapable of establishing security.

"Some seek to rule the world relying on weapons and threats, while others live in perpetual insecurity and danger.

"Some occupy the homeland of others thousands of miles from their homeland, interfere with their wealth and other resources. While others are bombarded daily in their own homes. Such behaviour is not worthy of human beings."

35. To these morons, war is the first option but
You have to make it such that you can claim you TRIED other things, when actually you didn't.

I think we may have a draft pretty soon. We can't fight Iran without at least another million in the armed forces. I'll be happy to hide a couple of resisters in my apartment.

...when the President of Iran looks like the greater statesman.

I wish David Copperfield could make our whole country disappear, to hide our shame.

8. It is amazing stuff, it is.
The Bushites are managing to lose the PR war to Ahm-an-idjit, who is getting a better hearing all the time. We are losing control of the "terms of the debate".

9. Was quite a very carefully organized and pointed speech.
CNN aired all of it (about 30 minutes). I was AMAZED that they did. But then they explained that they thought it was only going to be more like about 10 minutes long.

And like I said, I was amazed they ran it all, until they disclosed they had no idea it was going to run more than 10 minutes. Even that they would give him 10 minutes would have surprised me.

Yes, as an observant American under the last 6 years of the Bush Regime and DU regular, I'm quite well aware of the corporate whore media obiesance to The Decider and Dear Leader...

13. so the shithead actually said this?

<snip>

Mr Bush was unapologetic about the invasion of Iraq, but sought to reach out to the Islamic world. "My country desires peace," he told the gathering of world leaders at the UN's annual general assembly. "Extremists in your midst spread propaganda claiming that the West is engaged in a war against Islam. This propaganda is false and its purpose is to confuse you and justify acts of terror. We respect Islam."

With a straight face??? In front of the world?? God, do they even know how bad he looks and sounds to they world when he spews this shit?? :puke:

...Someone has to take a stand against the dominist. I am not saying that the Iranian leader is grand or anything but for fucks sake, if another country does not take a stand against the GOP who will?

Also note that BushCo has no interest in dialog with Iran or Syria for that matter, the GOP is a Warmongering Party full of Dominist. As someone stated earlier on another post, of all the countries to have Nuclear Arms, who was the one that dropped 2 on Japan when they did not have too?

24. I doubt
he's arming the Taliban or the foreign fighters as they're usually Sunni.

But he may be arming Shi'ite militias in Iraq and of course we know he (or at leat Iranian sources) arms Hezbollah in Lebanon.

26. According to these articles....
There is believe to be some form of Iranian involvement in Iraq at least in the last four years. Pakistani forces must be rearming the taliban...there are really only two places to get weapons from if you're in Southern Afghanistan...Iran or Pakistan.

28. I tend to favor Pakistan, mostly, WRT Afghanistan.
The history of that goes way back. Iraq is another matter of course, Iran is neck deep in affairs in Iraq, as anyone with a brain would have expected. The COW seems to be intent on meddling in SW Iran too, so it's reciprocal. The real problem from the Bushite point of view is that we are losing.

30. i cant figure out whether it's the interpretor or if the man is jus plain
crazy. i think the interpretation of his words could be the root of all this, um, misunderstanding. as far as iran having the bomb, why shouldn't they be capable of defending themselves against a nuclear israel. i don't see iran occupying and terrorizing people, but i do see israel terrorizing the palestinians with their missile attacks. sure, hezbollah is trying to defend the palestinians, and i'm sure iran would side with hezbollah on a number of issues. but as far as being the boogie man, i would havng that hat on israel as much as i would hezbollah.

Bothe he and Chavez really shed true light on the subject. It's obvious the world doesn't respect us anymore. I blame * for that. I don't see the U.S. being the nation it once was. I truly believe we are doomed as we sit by and watch the world pass us by.
