Global warming could put Walker´s Point (Bush estate) under water
PORTLAND, Maine — The Bush family property in Kennebunkport could be under water if sea levels continue rising because of global warming in the decades ahead, according to an analysis released Tuesday.

The Natural Resources Council of Maine created maps that showed portions of the Maine coast and how they would be affected under two scenarios: where the sea level rises by 3 feet and by 20 feet.

Either way, Maine stands to lose thousands of acres of coastal real estate and suffer severe economic and environmental impacts, according to the study.

"The results are alarming," said Dylan Voorhees, energy project director for the conservation organization.

3. I live in Portland, so I am horrified.

If sea levels even rased three meters, wharf street would be a wharf again:(

Here are some pictures I took of Portland last December, so you know what we will be losing-

(Only half are in the Old Port. The West End is pretty high.)

7. Everything below Fore St, for certain.
lower India Street to Federal too. Back Cove would cover all of Marginal Way and probably all the way up to Portland Street (the area near the main P.O. was underwater in the mid 1800s)and Baxter Blvd and adjacent low lying streets would be submerged. On the other side of Forest Ave, Thompson's Point would be under water too. The peninsula would become an island.

31. I like town pics, there aren't enough online
Whenever I deside to travel, it is so hard to figure out where to go. I look around for pictures for different towns and locals, but you have to wade through alot of crap to get to the nicer pictures, and your to tired by the time you are finished to want to go anywhere.

10. "I know President Bush wouldn´t want his family summer house destroyed
As part of its evaluation, NRCM mapped Walker´s Point in Kennebunkport, owned by the family of President Bush.

If sea levels rise by 3 feet, a portion of the property _ including the main house where the family stays _ would be under water, Voorhees said. If it rises by 20 feet, the entire Walker´s Point peninsula would be submerged.

Voorhees said he wanted to show the impacts on Walker´s Point to encourage the president to do more to curb global warming.

Rosalind Wade, a retired librarian from Kennebunkport, said she and her husband sometimes joke that global warming in time will make their inland home an oceanfront property. But global warming, she said, is no laughing matter.

"I know President Bush wouldn´t want his family summer house destroyed any more than I would want mine," she said.

18. I really do not think that Klan Bu$h could care one whit.
I mean, it is hard to be sentimental when you are such pathologically dysfunctional children of privilege, as is Klan Bu$h. No, with the money they have looted from this nation alone - and that (money) is all that matters to these trashy people - they can go anywhere they want.
