LAT: Poll: Democrats Lead, but Bush Popularity Rises (Bloomberg)
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-poll21sep21,0,2149217.story?coll=la-home-headlines

President Bush's approval rating has reached its highest level since January, helping to boost the Republican Party's image across a range of domestic and national security issues just seven weeks before this year's mid-term election, a new Times/Bloomberg poll has found.

While the survey spotlights a continuing array of Republican vulnerabilities, it also offers the first evidence in months that the GOP may be gaining momentum in November's battle for control of Congress.

Democrats hold a lead in the poll, 49% to 39%, when registered voters are asked which party they intend to support for Congress this year. But that advantage may rest on softening ground — on virtually every comparison between the parties measured in the survey, Republicans have improved their position since the summer.

In particular, Republicans have nearly doubled their lead when voters are asked which party they trust most to protect the nation against terrorism — the thrust of Bush's public relations blitz in recent weeks.

<snip>

One of the key figures — Bush's approval rating — rose among registered voters from 41% in late June to 44% in the new poll, with 54% disapproving. In January, 45% of registered voters expressed approval of his job performance.

1. Oh Bullshit, Everyone Hates Bush!
I'm not even kidding, we went back to my hub's super red Buffalo NY suburbian hometown last week and I was shocked that ex-Bushbots now hate Bush. NOBODY DEFENDING HIM AT ALL...same with the losers here (in So CA) that voted for him they're totally embarassed & not wanting to talk about it. These polls are so contrary to what we all see every day, they're just total BS!

We'll see how this translates to votes for the repubs, but hatred for Bush is a little late.

12. I too call "Bullshit!" . . . there is NO WAY that Bush's popularity . . .
is increasing . . . NO WAY whatsoever . . . people hate his guts -- progressive people, libertarian people, conservative people, even people who are completely disconnected from what is happening in the world . . .

oh, there's a core of maybe 20% of the population that's so stupid that they believe and support him . . . but every day that number gets smaller as people wake up to the reality of the most corrupt and amoral administration in American history . . .

I don't know who's conducting these polls, or what their methodology is . . . I only know that personal observation and common sense trump them . . .

now is the time . . .

World Can't Wait! Drive Out The Bush Regime

read the ad . . . sign the petition . . .

we truly cannot wait . . . the time is NOW! . . .

Used to be a mediocre rag until it was bought by the Chicago Fibune. Now it's just endless right wing BS, going back to the days when it championed "True Industrial Freedom" (NO UNIONS) on its' masthead.

15. RCP had this listed yesterday as a 45% approval rating
Edited on Fri Sep-22-06 09:32 AM by Lasher
That made their composite approval 41.0%. It's now been corrected to show 44% in this LA Times/Bloomberg poll, which makes the composite 40.8%.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/

PollingReport.com still has this poll incorrectly listed with a 45% approval rating.

http://www.pollingreport.com/BushJob.htm

It appears that the LA Times/Bloomberg poll must have come out 45% approval rating when it was first published by the LA Times on 9/20/06, and was corrected yesterday to show 44%. My memory, and this news article on the subject seem to confirm the theory.

http://www.currentargus.com/ci_4370950

Can any of you fellow poll junkies confirm this? Anybody got a hard copy of the 9/20/06 LA Times?

And check this out at the RCP site: Two other polls give Junior 37% and 39% approval ratings and Rasmussen gives him 40%?? Say what? Rasmussen has almost always given Junior a higher approval rating than any other poll that has been conducted during the same time period, and now two other polls are not only higher than theirs, but significantly so. I have never seen this happen. Not only that, but Rasmussen shows The Decider's approval rating has been going down, not up, since September 14, when they reported 47%

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Rasmussen's presidential approval rating for today has not yet been published. I shall look forward to that with eager anticipation.

Edit: 10:30AM EDT Rasmussen just published their presidential approval for today, which is 42%.

18. Fuck Polls, there I said it, feels good to.
They lie, well they actually may tell the truth, but they have no relation to the eventual outcome.
