War price on U.S. lives equal to 9/11
Now the death toll is 9/11 times two. U.S. military deaths from Iraq and Afghanistan now match those of the most devastating terrorist attack in America's history, the trigger for what came next.

The latest milestone for a country at war comes without commemoration. It also may well come without the precision of knowing who is the 2,973rd man or woman of arms to die in conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, or just when it happens. The terrorist attacks killed 2,973 victims in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania.

The body count from World War II was far higher for Allied troops than for the crushed Axis. Americans lost more men in each of a succession of Pacific battles than the 2,390 people who died at Pearl Harbor in the attack that made the U.S. declare war on Japan. The U.S. lost 405,399 in the theaters of World War II.

"There's never a good war but if the war's going well and the overall mission remains powerful, these numbers are not what people are focusing on," said Julian Zelizer, a political historian at Boston University. "If this becomes the subject, then something's gone wrong."

3. Give me a wood chipper, nice and sharp.
If you could stuff an American soldier/airman/marine/sailor into a woodchipper on the steps of the capitol every day and pretend that it somehow makes America safer, and brings us a step closer to winning the 'War On Terror', Professor would you want it?

Something has gone wrong, professor.

GFY.

since they volunteered to die for the rest of us.

Conservatives will never admit to paying $5 for a buck, cutting off your leg to save your toe or whatever analogy is most appropriate for the slaughter Bush has wrought. That assumes that one even attempts to accept the twisted logic that military violence prevents or minimizes 9/11 style events (which clearly it does not).

From the posted Article:

"The civilian toll in Iraq hit record highs in the summer, with 6,599 violent deaths reported in July and August alone, the United Nations said this week."

And by the way -

Wasn't this supposed to have sumthing to do with finding the perpetrators of 911 and protecting us from terrorism?

These milestones are always measured exclusively in American lives, and it fucking pisses me off.

This angel of light died in Al Kifl, Iraq, on Sept. 12th.

Emily Perez had a passion for books. She loved to read. In 2001, she graduated from a public high school outside of Washington DC in an area known mostly for gangs, drugs, death and despair. Emily was straight-A student. She could have attended any university she chose. She chose West Point.

Getting admitted to West Point is no easy feat. First, you need to be nominated for consideration -- usually by your senator or congressional representative. Then you are evaluated in three areas: academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential, and physical aptitude.

Emily was a leader among leaders. She was the first black woman to serve as corps commander sergeant major at West Point. She graduated in the top 10% of her class. In spite of all that promise, this story does not have a happy ending.

You will probably not see this story on FOX (she's not blonde enough), or The Today Show (she's not shallow enough), or BET (she's not freaky enough) ... that doesn't mean her story is not important enough.

Lt. Perez joined the Medical Service Corps because she wanted to help people. It was something she always focused on. As a high school student, Perez pushed her church to begin an HIV/AIDS ministry after several family friends became infected with the virus. She was honored in 2001 by the American Red Cross Board of Governors for her work as an AIDS educator.

As I post this there are tears in my eyes. This young woman already gave more of herself than most do in a lifetime. What a loss not only to her family, but to this nation. I know they don't but I wish Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice, Powell are haunted by the faces of those they wasted on this evil war.

12. I once posted a prediction thread poll
"When will US casualties in Iraq surpass US casualties from 9-11-01?" back in 2004.

Choices included 2005, 2006, 2010, 2020, 2050, 2100, and The US will never lose that many soldiers in Iraq.

I'm going to try to look it up...

14. PNACers figure its a fair deal, count all the Muslims they've slaughtered
.
.
.

100's of thousands I'd bet,

DOCUMENTED deaths of civilians alone at the hands of the "coalition" are between 43,000 and 48,000 ( http://www.iraqbodycount.org/ )

All the military, and "insurgents" slaughtered aren't included.

And of course, all that DU the PNACers have been spreading around the ME for over a decade and a half(since Bush1 started using it in GW1) will continue to kill, main, deform and create illness for the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan for centuries to come . .

So in comparison,

The PNACers ain't "losing" in the slaughter business by a long shot.

yet . . .
