After 3 tours in Iraq, ex-Marine dies in car crash on return home
VASSALBORO, Maine — An ex-Marine who returned home last month after serving three tours in Iraq lost his life in a highway crash as he was preparing to begin a new life as a civilian.

Timothy Foshay, 22, had just found a new apartment and had enrolled at the University of Maine at Augusta as an English major, said his mother, Ann Foshay.

"He hadn´t even gotten a chance to move in yet," she told the Kennebec Journal in Augusta.

Timothy Foshay died Wednesday night after he lost control of his 1995 Acura, which overturned on Holman Day Road and rolled into some trees and rocks.

2. How much is accident...

How much is PTSD and survivor guilt. There have been many that have died in motor cycle accidents. Three tours, that's a lot of adrenline in your system. Makes you feel invincible, at least invincible enough to keep testing your luck.....I'd look for more of these tragic stories. The young single guys seem to be more prone to it.

4. Despondent not Invincible
That much adrenaline in your system all the time makes you feel despair not superhuman. My condolences to his loved ones.

8. It is addictive...
I see Adrenalin junkies every day. They gravitate to risky professions and hobbies. You never feel so alive as when you are on the edge, whether in combat or motor cross. The despair is when it leaves your system. I have sympathy and empathy for this kid and his family, but I am not surprised. This is just something that is the darker unexplored side of war.

3. God bless his soul. 3 tours at 22? Could PTSD be a factor?
Only the Devil would sanction that 3 tours be expected from any one person.

10. "Police said excessive speed was a factor in the crash."
Feeling great to be back home, feeling great to have lived through Iraq, feeling high on life, punching the accelerator a bit too hard.

Yeah, I can see where a 22-year-old kid would be speeding recklessly in the States. Not many opportunities to drive a good car at a high speed in Iraq, right?

It's still a crying shame to have made it back from your third tour, with everyone celebrating your return, to have it end so soon and in such a brutal manner.

13. A common trait among returning combat veterans
I read an article that described how many Iraq war vets were buying fast cars and motorcycles to get the same rush they became accustomed to in Iraq.

Very sad!

11. If I hear one freeper say it's safer in Iraq than here because folks die
in car crashes so often, that freeper had better be wearing asbestos.

That is the BS that they have been saying to promote this war.
