Cheney says Democrats soft on national security

MILWAUKEE, Sept 25 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday accused Democrats of being soft in the war on terrorism with a strategy of "resignation and defeatism in the face of determined enemies."

Cheney, in a speech to Wisconsin Republicans, singled out in particular Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, West Virginia Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller and Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean for criticism.

...

Cheney cited Reid for suggesting the United States should not have invaded Iraq in 2003 even if it meant leaving Saddam Hussein in power and for opposing the Patriot Act, controversial laws passed with the goal of fighting terrorism. He criticized Dean for saying the capture of Saddam had not made America safer.

"As we make our case to the voters in this election season, it's vital to keep issues of national security at the top of the agenda," Cheney said.

Cheney in particular attacked Democrats for turning their backs on Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, now running as an independent after losing his state's Democratic primary in August to anti-war candidate Ned Lamont.

A woman comes home to find her husband in bed with another woman. While the wife sputters and yells, the husband and girlfriend get out of bed, get dressed, make the bed, kiss goodbye, girlfriend leaves, and husband sits down to read the evening paper. Finally, the wife doubts her own eyes and goes to fix dinner.

Cheney reminds me of the husband. Let's stop being the wife.

Let's see...hmmm...9/11 happened while the Repukes controlled the White House, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and had appointed about 75% of all judges in the Judicial Branch. They controlled all tentacles of our governments power, and yet they couldn't stop 19 religious fanatics from Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Yeman from stealing 4 of our civilian aircraft and flying them into the WTC, the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania.

"Hey Dick, where'd you learn that? In some Pentagon lounge, Sailor want a hump-hump, me love you long time whore house? Sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up here"

Reid is so right on that one, next cheney - -

Howard Dean said we are no safer with Saddam captured, right again, Dean was correct and cheney wrong - -

Keep talking cheney and maybe Lieberman will take a justified dive in the coming election. Then he can integrate Joe into this dirty administration.

35. Did anyone hear James Fallows on the Diane Rehm (NPR radio)
show on September 15th? Cheney's name came up and Fallows commented that 30 years ago during the transition from the Nixon to Carter Whitehouse Cheney was affable, non-partisan and easy to deal with. The guest host, Susan Page, asked Fallows what he thought had happened. Fallows said that people who have heart trouble at an early age often show personality changes and speculated that that was Cheney's problem. I have thought for a long time that Cheney was too mentally ill for the job. Personally, I don't care what his problem is; I just hope we get rid of him before too many others die for his and his puppet's mistakes.

39. Interesting that Deadeye Dick should say this.

Just less than a week ago two 16 year-old kids drove a stolen car right through the main gate at MacDill AFB in Tampa, home of the Central Command where all the top brass make all the high level decisions in the ME. The main gate was redesigned and "improved" recently at a price of several million dollars. The kids drove right past the CentCom HQ in their joyride around the base. Nice security there, Deadeye.

Link: http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/sptimes/access/1133857051.html?dids=1133857051:1133857051&FMT=FT&FMTS=ABS:FT&date=Sep+22%2C+2006&author=&pub=St.+Petersburg+Times&edition=&startpage=16.A&desc=MacDill+flunks+security+test

Forget Osama bin Laden, shoulder-fired missiles and the dirty bomb below deck. Five years after 9/11, and untold billions in security spending later, the government still can't keep two joyriding teens from crashing onto MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, the headquarters of American military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Needless to say, they could have been "tairists" and had several hundred pounds of C4 or a dirty nuke device in their trunk.

And in another instance of lax security within the last few days..... A man drove his car right up to the Capitol Building in DC and went wildly running through the corridors. And it should be noted he was apprehended by civilian workers, not security or military types.

Yeah, Deadeye, your security is top notch.

During Milwaukee Stop, Cheney Promotes Administration's Agenda
Vice President Appeared At GOP Fundraiser

UPDATED: 1:57 pm CDT September 25, 2006

MILWAUKEE -- U.S. Vice President Cheney told Republicans in Milwaukee on Monday that the Bush administration won't relent in the war on terror and will prevail.

.........

He said that voters need to be reminded of the differences between Republicans and Democrats when it comes to fighting terrorism. He said that the Bush administration remains committed to fighting the war in Iraq -- and that withdrawing troops now would only embolden terrorists and lead to more death later.

Cheney addressed about 110 people at a luncheon. The cost to attend the luncheon at the Pfister Hotel was $1,000 per person or $5,000 for two tickets and a photo with the vice president.

,,,,,,Gubernatorial candidate Mark Green and attorney general nominee J.B. Van Hollen briefly addressed the crowd before Cheney spoke.

His visit follows two in Wisconsin by President George W. Bush -- one to raise money for Green and another to support 8th Congressional District candidate John Gard.

The vice president was scheduled to leave the state immediately after the luncheon.

Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to be in Milwaukee on Oct. 24 to raise money for current Gov. Jim Doyle.
