KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AFP) - A suicide attack near a government office and a mosque in the southern Afghanistan town of Lashkar Gah killed 18 people, most of them civilians, police said.
"It was a suicide attack. Eighteen people were killed and 18 wounded," General Mohammad Nabi Mullahkhail told AFP. "Three of the dead were policemen," he said on Tuesday

A suicide bomber was suspected to have triggered the blast in the town of Lashkar Gah, policeman Mohammed Ayoub told Reuters news agency.
Separately, a bomb has struck a convoy of Nato-led troops in the Afghan capital, Kabul, a spokesman said.
He said "some soldiers and civilians" had been wounded in the blast.
It was unclear whether the explosion in Kabul was caused by a roadside bomb or a suicide attack.
