Dalai Lama: Too many lives lost in Iraq
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Dalai Lama said Tuesday that violence in Iraq has cost too many lives and soured his view of the U.S.-led war.

The Tibetan spiritual leader initially reserved judgment on the conflict, saying it would only become clear with time whether the invasion was a good idea.

"At the early stage I felt, and also I expressed, 'Too early to say, to judge.' But now, things not very positive," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. "Now in Iraq — too many killings."

To restore relations between the Muslim world and the West, he said, both sides should get to know each other.

1. So the Dalai Lama is ok with invasions & occupations of nations
that hadn't been doing one damn thing to anyone...it's just a matter of bodycount.

2. Wow!!
I'm so glad we have such a great man around to dispense these pearls of wisdom. :sarcasm: This guy totally jumped the shark when he didn't come out strongly against this horrendous monstrosity. Three years later we get this mealy-mouthed gibberish. Opened my eyes to what a simple-minded, phony asshat he is.

3. he tries to stay out of political stuff
He was being diplomatic. His situation is so
tenuous, and if he came out in the media
against the war, the result would only have
been that he would have lost access to
travel in the US and give his seminars to
save our sorry souls. Get a grip. Fix your
own problems.

The quality of thought here is getting more
and more freeper-like.

Jesus.

9. yes I know what you mean
"The quality of thought here is getting more and more freeper-like."

There is a rather vocal group here who seem to live by the following:

1) They hate people who disagree with them.

2) They hate people who disagree with them at first but come around to their POV.

3) They hate people who don't disagree with them, but don't agree with them fast enough.

Which sounds pretty freeper-like to me.

8. true, but it would be hard not to. papus norviticus meant to 'inflame'
look at the text, the 'quote' he used that raised so much ire, was completely unnecessary and delivered almost as an aside within the speech, Shithead ratzinger wanted riots, why? because rioting Muslims helps right wing fascists like bush in the polls.
