Poll shows Lieberman with ten-point lead over Lamont
HAMDEN, Conn. It appears Connecticut Democratic Senate nominee Ned Lamont has lost his momentum.

A new Quinnipiac University poll has Lamont running ten points behind incumbent Senator Joe Lieberman, who is running as an independent.

Lamont upset Lieberman in the Democratic primary in August.

While Lamont has slightly higher favorability ratings among Democrats, Lieberman is running much better among Republicans and unaffiliated voters. And voters with no party affiliation outnumber Democrats and Republicans in Connecticut.

2. That is more in-line with other recent polls
Like Rasmussen & ARG.

And, I'm guessing the NIE and Lieberman's huge flip-flop on Iraq had not sunk in at the time of the poll, either.

That's going to hurt him as well.

11. Zogby is no more reliable than any other poll ...
Notice how your poll has Casey ahead of Santorum by only six points?

Let's face it: Zogby is delusional. Rasmussen is biased. Gallup is flawed. And ARG is all over the map.

We might as well read tea leaves.

3. You know all that shit we're fed about "hold your nose and vote for the D"
You know all that shit we're fed about how we each must absolutely
and positively "hold your nose and vote for the Democrat", no matter
how appalling their positions?

It's a lie told by the DLC and other political power junkie
insiders. They simply want the most corporate candidate they
can get, and they care not a whit about party affiliation
except when it's convenient as a bludgeon with which to beat
us lefties over the head.

Remember this race the next time you're told to "You *MUST*
vote for the Democrat because this is, like, the most important
race since forevah!"

16. My point (which really wasn't that subtle)...
My point (which really wasn't that subtle) is that there are
clearly a load of CT "Democrats" who are planning on *NOT*
holding their nose and voting for the Democrat, but are
instead planning on voting "third party", the ultimate sin
when it's lefties doing it to the DLCers, but apparently
is perfectly "OK" when it's DLCers doing it to the lefties.

54. Wha?
The problem is that UNAFFILIATED voters and Republicans are supporting Lieberman. Most Democrats support Lamont.

And on another note, you realize that many DUers who are upset that Lieberman wouldn't support the Dem nominee are the same DUers who often threaten to vote 3rd party, right?

12. what's your point?
you don't like the Democratic party, you don't want to work for change within the party, then don't register as a Democratic

One other point, just so you are clear, Lamont happens to be the Democratic nominee, and the Democratic party is supporting him

18. Most Repubs will vote for Lieberman. Some Dems
will also vote for Lieberman. Some of the Dems will do so because Lieberman has provided constituent service for them in the past (I found that to be true when trying to persuade Dems to abandon a very moderate Repub that we Dems were trying to replace in Congress). Some will support Lieberman because they genuinely believe that his stand on the Middle East is the correct one. Some will support Lieberman because they have done so in the past.

Two thirds of Dems are now supporting LaMont. The key is to get even more Dems and more of independents to do so. If you have time, maybe you could join others in working for LaMont. I read a post from someone calling for LaMont yesterday saying how he had been able to convince undecided Dems to come over to LaMont with calm reasoning.

Lieberman wins, the Democrats net 6 Senate seats, which means to control the Senate they will need Lieberman to caucus with the Democrats. In such circumstances, I'm afraid they will have to take him back.

just saying it doesn't make it happen
it may give you short term allusions that it will happen, but the only way it WILL HAPPEN is if one side is able to convience the other side that they present a better vision. The problem is those that are NOT affiliated with any party, and those are the people who will make or break this election

19. Lamont needs to win
That will be the only safe scenario. It will also mean a person who votes more with the progressives. The Republicans know they cannot win in the CT race. So they would rather go with a centrist leaning democrat than a left leaning one. It is the way they do business. We on the other hand need to take the approach that we do not want a center leaning democrat from CT. We may have some from the Bible belt. But CT needs to have a progressive democrat.

I think Lieberman is in for a surprise though. The Repukes might like him, but they're staying home this year, and a lot of Bush voters are running away from all Repuke candidates. This is one case where the polls could be very, very wrong.

52. Unfortunately Joe might win
My ultra-conservative father and moerately-conservative mother are voting for Joe. They don't even know the Republican's name that's also running. Joe is getting support from repubs and conservative dems and some independents. My older brother and I rebelled against my parents and became liberals but somehow we all seem to get along. Anyways, CT is such a strange state. We don't really like ultra-conservatives, our gov. Jodi Rell is pretty moderate for a repub and we have lots of moderate and liberal mayors but we seem to really be into calling ourselves "independents." We even elected some guy when I was in high school named Lowell Weicker for gov. and everyone ended up hating him. Guess what? He was an independent. Joe used to be okay to me and he did help to save the Groton sub base and was Al Gore's running mate but I detest his stance on the war and his sidling up to Bush...eewww. Joe, you're such a repub, what happened?
That's why you won't get my vote. LaMont will.

Before the election, and put on notice that he will be shunned completely. The voters in Connecticut need to know this. It may make no difference in the results, but the Democrats must stand for principles. In fact anyone who voted for the Torture Bill must be run from the party and shunned. Exposed in every possible way. Time to clean house!
