Bush: Dems Have Become Obstructionists

President Bush counterpunched at Democrats on Thursday, saying their criticism of the war in Iraq has turned their party into one of "cut-and-run" obstructionists.

At a GOP fundraiser, Bush accused Democrats of using a new intelligence estimate that ties the war in Iraq to rising extremism to win votes in November.

...

"Five years after 9-11, Democrats offer nothing but criticism, and obstruction and endless second guessing," Bush said. He said the Democratic Party - the party of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman - has become the "party of cut-and-run."

If Democrats really believe the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has made America less safe, then they should make that case to the American people, Bush said.

"Saddam Hussein's regime was a serious threat," Bush said, adding that had he not been removed from power, the former Iraqi leader would still be killing innocent people, pursuing weapons of mass destruction and firing at U.S. pilots.

2. The rules for criticizing Bush
The following outlines when it is acceptable to criticize the Bush administration

You can criticize Bush* at any time other than the follow:

BEFORE he completely screws up. That is being an "obstructionist".

WHILE he is completely screwing up or WHILE he is covering up the screw up. That is "not offering positive alternatives"

AFTER he screws up. That is "Monday morning quarterbacking" or "revisionist history"** take your pic.

___________________________________________

*let's assume that, for brevity, that he has an actual function and is actually in charge***.

** see "Links to terrorism/WMD/a threat" changing to "freedom is on the march".

**** relax, we know he isn't at least we PRAY**** he isn't.

****even evil godless communist liberal types are willing to say a few words on bended knee just in case. OH PLEASE GOD NO... that sort of thing.

3. Hmmm...
BUSH is the one who is still 'killing innocent people, pursuing weapons of mass destruction and putting U.S. pilots in the line of fire.'

Classic projection, chimpy.

Oh, and YOU, chimpy, are the one who has to make the case to the American people that the invasion of Iraq has made America SAFER.

God, what a maroon.

Instead, America is doing it for him. Such progress! Bush is the new Saddam Hussein.

15. again he's speaking to his base
he knows that there is a 100% certainly of at least 30 percent of likely voters believing whatever he says no matter how absurd. We could have irrefutible proof that he fucks dead baby ducks and tears the heads off puppies and all he would have to do is "re-characterize" it as necessary for the security of this country and those 30% would just shove their noses further into his buttcrack.

The remaining 20% of their "half" gets all the information they need from Fox News and AM Talk Radio, and dismisses every other news source as "thuh librewl media"; so unless us democrats can get our message through those outlets into their heads, it is unlikely we'll be converting very many of their middle either.

Now Bush's regime is a serious threat, and he's still in power, still killing innocent people, openly advocating torture, and we have bio and chemical weapons research facilities ourselves.

If all those idiot republicans want is a strong leader, I would be more than happy to give them an alpha lemming and a high cliff.

24. Bush: Democrats 'cut-and-run' obstructionists
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15050599/from/RS.3/

President Bush counterpunched at Democrats on Thursday, saying their criticism of the war in Iraq has turned their party into one of "cut-and-run" obstructionists.

At a GOP fundraiser, Bush accused Democrats of using a new intelligence estimate that ties the war in Iraq to rising extremism to win votes in November.

The National Intelligence Estimate - compiled by leading analysts across 16 U.S. spy agencies - concluded that Iraq has become a "cause celebre" for jihadists, who are growing in number and geographic reach. If the trend continues, the analysts found, risks to U.S. interests at home and abroad will rise.

<snip>

"Five years after 9-11, Democrats offer nothing but criticism, and obstruction and endless second guessing," Bush said. He said the Democratic Party - the party of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Harry Truman - has become the "party of cut-and-run."

After 5 years of catapulting slogans and and spinning, he wouldn't know a thought if it slapped him.

"Five years after everything changed, you're either with us or with the terrists, united we stand, Dems offer nothing but ass-kissing, high-fives and thumbs-up approvals," Bush said. He said the Democratic Party - the party of disloyal and unwarranted opposition, has become the "party of we'll stay to the last billion is spent and all armed services are depleted because you so inspire us with your leadership."

42. I Begin To Wonder...
if all this is just a ploy. The "image" of democracy. I wonder if it's more like professional wrestling: the winners and losers are known well before the match. Are the dems really "losing" and is bush really criticizing them, or is it all just a facade that is slowly falling away. Maybe this was setup a long time ago, and we're near the end. I wonder if America was lost well before all of this. We'll see in November, but maybe it's time for our own coup? There's enough pissed off people, and bush's military is preoccupied in Iraq & Afghanistan (and soon Iran). Who will protect chimpy's ass from a coup? I'm not trying to arange a coup (to do so in public like this could be treachorous) but wasn't it Thomas Jefferson who said that a revolution every few years was good for democracy? I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something along those lines. Just my $0.02.

46. There's an apocryphal quote attributed to Jefferson that reads
Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 07:52 PM by mcscajun
"Every generation needs a new revolution."

This, however, IS Jefferson:
"The generation which commences a revolution rarely compleats it. Habituated from their infancy to passive submission of body and mind to their kings and priests... their ignorance and bigotry make them instruments often, in the hands of the Bonapartes and Iturbides to defeat their own rights and purposes. This is the present situation of Europe and Spanish America. but it is not desperate. The light which has been shed on mankind by the art of printing has eminently changed the condition of the world. as yet that light has dawned on the midling classes only of the men of Europe. The kings and the rabble of equal ignorance, have not yet recieved it's rays; but it continues to spread. And, while printing is preserved, it can no more recede than the sun return on his course. A first attempt to recover the right of self-government may fail, so may a 2d. a 3d. &c. but as a younger, and more instructed race comes on, the sentiment become more and more intuitive, and a 4th. a 5th. Or some subsequent one of the ever renewed attempts will ultimately succeed... all will attain representative government... to attain all this however rivers of blood must yet flow, & years of desolation pass over, yet the object is worth rivers of blood, and years of desolation. For what inheritance, so valuable, can man leave to his posterity?... You and I shall look down from another world on these glorious achievements to man, which will add to the joys even of heaven."

51. Dear Little Monkey....
...you think you've won again. You think you've cornered the Democrats and painted them into a corner.

Guess again, Little Monkey.

Unlike you, the little boy, who shoved firecrackers up frog's asses; the young punk, who guzzled countless gallons of alcohol down your fetid gullet; the fetal position coward, who avoided Vietnam by pretending to be a pilot (you weren't, I'm convinced of that); the post pubescent failure, who shoved enough coke up your nose to choke a horse while failing at every business venture (and then got bailed out by your terrorist supporting, butt fuck buddies, the Saudis), the vast majority of Americans can tell the difference between right and wrong. And we are sick and tired of your bullshit.

You think you've won, Little Monkey. On November 7th you will find out how utterly wrong you are as the American people rise up and with a pull of a lever begin the process of ending the reign of terror that marks the Bush family.

And, Little Monkey, when you're led, sobbing and crying like the coward that you are, to your supermax prison cell understand that you will become a rumour in American history.

Fuck you, Little Monkey, fuck you.

58. Through the Looking Glass
"If Democrats really believe the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has made America less safe, then they should make that case to the American people, Bush said."

Democrats don't need to do that. 16 intelligence agencies just made that case.

Of course, the slightest challenge to his narcissistic personality disorder is "obstructionist":

"You don't get everything you want. A dictatorship would be a lot easier."
(Governing Magazine 7/98)

"There are going to be some times where we don't agree with each other, but that's OK. If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator," Bush joked.

-- CNN.com, December 18, 2000

"A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there's no question about it, " said.

-- Business Week, July 30, 2001

62. That's Their Job
The party in the minority cannot get ideas and proposals to the floor of congress, so duty number one is to stop further mistakes from being made.

When the stove is on fire, you do not develop a new recipe for chili. You STOP THE FIRE!

65. Obstructionist is not always a bad thing
If they are obstructing congress and the President from doing bad things, then they are doing the right thing.

66. Newsflash: The President is not a king
Yes, that applies to you, Chimpy. It's not "cut and run" - it's cut our losses. Maybe we should use my phrase. We need to start withdrawing from Iraq now. It's only because Bush's invasion was such a disaster that we can't withdraw all now.

75. I guess "Don't stick your finger in that light socket" is obstructionist
Perhaps I should start raising my 2-year-old in a non-obstructionist manner. I won't stop him from doing bad things unless I have an alternative. Like, say, sticking your finger in... ummmm... can't think of alternative, so I guess my son will simply be black and crispy.

Thank GOD I'll have a solid legal Bush-based defense.
