FBI Agent Says Bureau Failed Her After Illness (on duty at Gitmo)
BOSTON -- An FBI agent says the bureau has abandoned her as she fights a disease contracted while on assignment in Cuba.

NewsCenter 5's David Boeri reported that Theresa Foley said she's in a fight against the bureau and to regain her health.

Foley is an FBI agent who volunteered for duty at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba three years ago.

"I went down to Guantanamo to work. I signed off knowing it would be a year of my life. I thanked God for the opportunity," Foley said.

1. "The disease is transmitted by rat urine" - from her quarters at Gitmo . .
.
.
.

Hey, this is worth a good read!

More from the posted article:

"But now, Foley said she can barely walk and has undergone spinal fusion and surgery because of a bacterial disease called leptosporosis. The disease is transmitted by rat urine, which Foley said infested the living quarters to which she was assigned at Guantanamo.

"Due to the heavy rat infestation in that housing unit, that's what did the damage," Foley said.

Foley said the bureau didn't let her move. Meanwhile, her condition worsened. Foley said by the time she was diagnosed by a specialist in Boston in January 2004, who claimed that doctors at Guantanamo missed an easy diagnosis because "they didn't want to diagnose her condition."

"I'm their error that they want to go away," Foley said.

2. I'm having trouble working up sympathy here...................
How many torture sessions did she participate in????

If she's a "christian", here's my message to her: The wages of sin is death.

3. If you are having a problem working up sympathy - that's YOUR problem
.
.
.

No one should be denied proper medical attention despite what they may or may not have done.

In MY country,

even if a perpetrator shoots an Officer of the law or two, and is injured in the process

The perpetrator gets immediate and professional attention to take care of his wounds and to save his life.

Life is precious,

and we can learn from those that deviate from what is acceptable by society,

not by killing them (think Texecutioner Bush)

But by dealing with them humanely and studying them - we can LEARN from these people

But I ramble - -

I saw nothing in the article that indicated she was aware of, or participated in any torture

Did I miss something?

7. I'm not saying it's ok to deny her medical care...................
I just said I'M having an issue truly sympathizing with her because she MAY have been involved in wrongdoing. The FBI isn't at Gitmo to play pinochle.

5. She "thanked God for the opportunity" !?!?! to go to Guantanamo.
And the only criticism she's voiced about the goings on at Guantanamo are that some of the other agents spent time fishing and diving and didn't work as hard as she did.

I listened to her whole interview with the TV station. She never mentioned the fact that prisoners there (none of whom have been found guilty in a court of law) were exposed to the same disease; she never thanked liberal Senator Ted Kennedy for intervening with the FBI in her behalf.

Just what was she working so hard at? I would very much like to know what women FBI agents' duties are in Guantanamo. While there are US lawyers going to Guantanamo to provide pro bono legal services for the illegally detained prisoners there, my understanding is that it is male lawyers only who are doing that, in part because there are no women prisoners there and Muslim males would not be comfortable, for example, discussing the humiliating and sometimes sexual aspects of their torture with female attys.

We know that the Army used female soldiers to humiliate Muslim prisoners - I don't want to write down the disgusting details of their actions here. What was super patriot, I-thank-God Theresa Foley doing with the Muslim males? Hell yes, give her every possible medical treatment. Keep her well enough to survive to testify in war crimes trials.

6. Has she shown the least amount of concern for the prisoners in her charge?
None of whom have been found guilty of a crime?

Why does she think she's more special than they are?

Anyone but a kool-aide drinker would know that the repuke regime would throw them out with the trash when it suited them.

Some awakenings are ruder than others but stupidity has a price. Time to pay up.
