Dean blasts Bush in Texas campaign stop
Dean blasts Bush in Texas campaign stop

12/04/2003

By LIZ AUSTIN / Associated Press

Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean brought his grass-roots message to the heart of Bush country Thursday, blasting the president for the Iraq war and his health care and tax policies.

Dean, a former Vermont governor, repeatedly criticized Bush for his tax-cut package, which he said put money in the hands of big corporations and rich Republicans at the expense of ordinary taxpayers.

"Borrow and spend, borrow and spend. This is a credit-card presidency," Dean told about 300 people at a $150-a-plate fund-raiser at a Dallas hotel. "His fiscal model is Argentina. We can do better than that."

snip.............

He told reporters he is committed to helping rebuild the Texas Democratic Party, which has lost its century-old grip on the state to Republicans.

"To be honest with you, I think it's time that elections in Texas were not about guns, God, gays and abortion," he said. "I think it's time elections in Texas were about jobs, health care and education."

5. I think Dean's worst enemies are so called Democrats
If I were him, I'd make sure my armor was reinforced in the BACK, not the front.

4. The wedge issues
Read the article this month in Vanity Fair by Howard Dean, it is wonderful. It talks about wedge issues and poverty etc.. Best of all it is consistant with what he has been saying all along.

7. Just LOVE this line:
"Borrow and spend, borrow and spend. This is a credit-card presidency... His fiscal model is Argentina."

Might be a bumper sticker in there somewhere.

8. As I've said before
Dean GETS IT! I was open to any of the candidates but Dean gives me a surge of hope when I hear what he says. I know someone in Texas and I think there may be a lot of disillusioned people there-they've had longer of bush's policies that the rest of us and can't like it any better.
