"In the future, I'd very much like to get disengaged from politics," Soros said at a Council on Foreign Relations meeting on the Upper East Side. "I'm interested in policy and not in politics."

1. Gee, a poorly written, out of context quote from a right wing rag.
Who'd a thunk it from the bastion of good journalism, the NY Post?

6. Tsk tsk and they have to do better than that
I mean, that wasn't even fun to expose -- they did all the work themselves!

3. Can anybody find other accounts of what was said?
I'm having trouble with google searches. If this is true, there's a lot of PAC funding that is withdrawing itself from progressive coffers. I'd like to know what he really said, if as stated above, that is a taken out of context quote. Sorry for the source.

5. Gosh, love the way they translate "In the future" to "I've QUIT!"
Fucking idiots. It's wishful thinking on their part. The Good George is still putting his beak in, never fear:

http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N28423782.htm

NEW YORK, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Billionaire financier George Soros said on Thursday the war in Iraq has undermined U.S. leadership in the world, mocking the concept that peace and democracy could be achieved through war.

"The idea that you can introduce democracy via military force is a non-starter," Soros told a gathering at the Council on Foreign Relations. "We have lost the moral high ground."

The currency arbitrageur-turned-philanthropist donated millions of dollars to Democrats in the 2004 presidential election in an unsuccessful effort to defeat President George W. Bush. More generally, he has used his influence and money to speak out on key political issues.

Soros, who is promoting a book lambasting U.S. Middle East policy, said the resentment generated in the Arab world by the bloody conflict in Iraq more than offsets any possible benefits gleaned from efforts to open the country's political process.....Soros argued that Bush's with-us-or-against-us stance in the fight to combat terrorism has hampered America's ability to differentiate between groups like Hamas and Hizbollah, which he said could be dealt with politically, and al-Qaeda.

The Hungarian-born Soros' foundation, The Open Society Institute, is dedicated to promoting liberal values in select developing countries, particularly former Soviet states...

Boycotting the Democratic Party in North Carolina until the DINO State House Speaker (and corrupt) Jim Black steps down. I'm still a Democrat in national elections though.

Black has been bought off by so many different business lobbies it's not even funny. But I get to answer that question at least once a day :). It'll get the post count up.

9. No can do
Changing a user name is a horrendously painful process with this software. Just send Admin a note, tell them you want to re-register with a different name, and wait for them to get back to you (generally 2-24 hours, unless there's some major system issue they're also taking care of).

The main reason why you should send a note is to let them know you're not a "stealth Freeper". We get a LOT of junior spies around here, and they're pretty vigilant about them.

13. From a review of your prior posts
It appears you agree with no viewpoint left of Fox News and NewsMax.

What is there about Democrats that you do like?

14. Again, I'll probably just delete this username....
I'm 31, I've had 3 presidential elections in my voting lifetime. I've voted for Clinton, Gore and Kerry. I can't stand Jesse Helms and his wonderful legacy on my state. I'm pretty much a pacifist, but I do realize a threat when I see one. I believe in a woman's right to choose (although I still have a problem with the transporting a minor child across state lines thing), and the COMPLETE separation of Church and State. I'm for the government actually helping regular, everyday people instead of corporations and the rich.

I am Christian and a Baptist, but not a southern baptist. I don't believe in the removal of civil liberties by any part of the government and I definitely don't believe in torture as a policy.

I grew up dirt poor and in the country (my mom and dad graduated from high school but my grandparents never made it past the third grade) so basically the Republican party doesn't do much for me. I am quite a liberal thinker, although socially, I find myself pulling back a little now that I have kids and don't want my six and three year old exposed to some things in society until they are emotionally ready.

I could go on but I have to work some more this afternoon. Maybe I'll address your post a lttle more later. BTW, I'm curious, how do you figure I'm right wing? What part of my posts make you believe that?
