Fort Lauderdale police arrested Robert Ray Huizenga, son of Miami Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga, Friday night on a DUI charge after his sport utility vehicle struck a pedestrian, a police official said.
Huizenga, 41, was turning left onto Las Olas Boulevard from Southeast 13th Street about 7 p.m. when he struck a 71-year-old man who was trying to cross Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Clinton Ward said. The unidentified man was taken to Broward General Medical Center with a serious head injury and a possible broken leg, Ward said.
Officers put Huizenga, of Fort Lauderdale, through a field sobriety test at the scene and at a Broward Sheriff's Office holding station, Ward said. Huizenga was handcuffed at the scene and later charged with DUI.
Friday marks the second time Huizenga has been charged with drunken driving. In 1995, the Broward Sheriff's Office arrested Huizenga on DUI charges, court records show. He entered a plea agreement and served six months' probation. (snip/...)

Bush's new faith-based prisons! Huizenga's dad, Miami Dolphin owner, H. Wayne Huizenga's a proud Republican. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen to his sonny boy.
(snip) Huizenga himself had been a generous supporter of the Republican Party. George Bush sent him a card on his 50th birthday, and Huizenga had since hosted fundraisers for then-Vice President Dan Quayle and other GOP bigwigs. (snip/...)
