Democrats Promise Revenge in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. (Reuters) - The Democratic presidential contenders vowed on Saturday to win the battleground state of Florida in 2004 and avenge the bitter 36-day vote recount that landed President Bush in the White House.

At a convention of 4,000 Florida party activists, Democrats alternated harsh criticism of Bush's leadership with promises to remember the disputed 2000 election and make it a rallying cry for next year, when Florida will again play a crucial role.

5. Yeah. I remember all the excitement about how Jeb was going to lose
and the democrats would win big in FL.

All those sure democratic wins. How many of those sure wins were in states with voting machines???????

3. What recount???
"avenge the bitter 36-day vote recount"

From http://www.usatoday.com/news/vote2000/pres243.htm

"The Supreme Court of Florida has said that the legislature intended the State's electors to 'participate fully in the federal electoral process' ... as provided in 3 U.S.C. 5.

"That statute, in turn, requires that any controversy or contest that is designed to lead to a conclusive selection of electors be completed by December 12. That date is upon us, and there is no recount procedure in place under the State Supreme Court's order that comports with minimal constitutional standards.

"Because it is evident that any recount seeking to meet the December 12 date will be unconstitutional for the reasons we have discussed, we reverse the judgment of the Supreme Court of Florida ordering a recount to proceed.

4. What Part of "The Fix is In" Don't You Understand?
The 90000 who were disenfranchised wrongfully as "convicted felons"
in 2000 will still be disenfranchised in 2004. It only took a few
days to strike them from the rolls, but each case for reinstatement
requires much paperwork and careful scrutiny, which cannot be completed
in time for the 2004 general elections, they say.

The votes will be counted by paperless Diebold DRE machinez anyway
so they can download whatever results they want into them.

7. I thought I read here recently
those voters still have NOT be reinstated and their sec. of state ruled NO paper trail will be required. I really wouldn't pour too much time and money into Florida, its already been decided.

6. Well, this kind of talk is cheeap. There's a lot of work to be done
to ensure that qualified voters are registered, that registered voters get to vote, that the election day processes are clean, that absentee ballots handled properly, etc. I don't hear about them doing and of the real work to get this stuff straightened out.

They laid down and let the Jeb Bush "felon" purge take place, they let the NAACP agree to a settlement that the GOP would correct the problem in 2004 (it won't) and so far I haven't seen anything that lookd like fighting.
