WASHINGTON - Two federal agencies are investigating whether the Bush administration tried to block government scientists from speaking freely about global warming and censor their research, a senator said Wednesday.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (news, bio, voting record), D-N.J., said he was informed that the inspectors general for the
Commerce Department and
NASA had begun "coordinated, sweeping investigations of the Bush administration's censorship and suppression" of federal research into global warming.

"These investigations are critical because the Republicans in Congress have ignored this serious problem," Lautenberg said.

2. What's amazing is that we aren't more shocked
It just blows my mind that the level of crimes perpetrated by this administration is such that even disclosure of willful attempts to suppress evidence of an impending global catastrophe is nothing more than what we have come to expect. So much for any hope of faith in public government.

3. The federal apparatus has been almost entirely politicized. extreme RW
politicized, giving us voodoo science and religion in addition to a voodoo bureaucracy, voodoo military and voodoo economics held over from the Gipper's regime.

4. The Shock Is The Scientists Actually Got To Speak
the suppression of science preceded even the supression of civil rights in this regime. It just couldn't get any air time.

5. What's really galling is the connection between global warming and
the war in Iraq.

DUHbya is stifling the science that proves our gluttonous oil addiction (which even Chimpy McFlightsuit acknowledged in is State of the Union address!) is putting the environment and future generations in peril AT THE SAME TIME he's launched an unjust, unnecessary, unwinnable war IN THE NAME OF OIL.

I don't know what could be more craven than that...it puts Bush in the company of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao.

7. Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Oh my!
Don't SAY that! That's hysterical, ignorant and inflamatory! There's NO comparison! You know George W Bush "isn't as bad" as they were! What happened in China, Germany and the Soviet Union during the twentieth century couldn't possibly happen here. First of all we're a moral christian nation of laws. Also, we're smarter than people in those countries were. We have cell phones, SUVs, XBoxes, Starbucks, cable channels, and big box churches, and anything bad like that couldn't ever happen to us! Do I have to remind you that Uh-Murka is the greatest country in the world and George Bush is a straight-talking, honest, regular guy just like uncle Vern? No! And besides that, he speaks Texan which Hitler, Stalin and Mao couldn't.

So shut up! Just shut up!!!

I think I remember reading about this no less than 3 - 4 years ago.

What a bunch of disloyal, traitorous, lying, murderous bastards (*dumbass, of course)! Why do they hate America so?

10. Yep, that ain't news
They muzzle the truth all the time, science or not! As a friend says, those of us on our side take in facts and adjust our opinions/positions accordingly; the other side only believes what they want to believe, and as if that ain't enough, they then insist it's the TRUTH!
