Pundits Piling Into Dean's Corner
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 11:12 PM by kskiska
By Howard Kurtz

They have no get-out-the-vote organizations and dispense no walking-around money. But some liberal pundits are starting to line up behind Howard Dean.

Unlike Al Gore, who never had much of a media cheerleading squad, the former Vermont governor is winning some converts with his two-fisted style -- even if he's not quite as liberal as they would like.

"I'm for Howard Dean -- because he's going to win," writes Texas columnist Molly Ivins. She says Dean "gives a hell of a speech" and "fights back if you get in his face," even if he is, well, a centrist.

(snip)

The Nation's William Greider, while calling Dean "an odd duck," writes that "the man also stands his ground in a fight. When someone jabs him, he jabs back. . . . What a refreshing departure from the rope-a-dope calculations of the Clinton era."

1. I can't wait until tomorrow to hear what Al
Gore has to say about his "endorsement" of Dean! I've loved all of Al Gore's speeches and expect this one to be just as eloquent!

THis is all so coming full circle for me..politically speaking.. because I started looking at Dean about a half an hour after Gore said he wasn't going to run in Dec,2002. And Dean had a poignant bit to say about Gore when he found out Gore wasn't going to be in the race and it made me like Dean even more.

2. I kinda figured he'd go with Dean

If he'd gone with Lieberman he'd have lost me forever. The whole 2000 election was such a tragedy, however. Gore would have made a fantastic president. Once we've got a real statesman in office, Junior will forever be a joke.

5. Harlem with Dean
Then both are traveling to Iowa together (unless that has changed since I heard it about 3 hours ago). Then Dean comes back for the debate.

I feel..I'm so glad I wrote it down! :yourock:, too! :D

I have that quote somewhere of what Dean said about Gore when he found out he wasn't running.

Something about that... Gore wasn't given the respect he deserved for what he had achieved!
