I felt it here in the northern DC suburbs. It was a mellow rumbling
in the temp trailer I'm currently working in. Lasted about a minute.

I've read that some geologists are concerned about ledges off the atlantic coast falling during an earth quake and creating tidal waves.

5. I saw something about that...probably a Discovery channel show

It was speaking about an island on the other side of the Atlantic with a precariously arranged volcanic dome/ridge. Can't remember the island's name at the moment, however.

20. La Palma

It's the Island of La Palma, part of the Canary Islands. Last volcanic eruption happened in 1971, IIRC. But this has nothing to do with any possible Tsunami related to the Richmond earthquake.

7. 1.7 quake in Oklahoma ....yesterday

The first quake at 9:50 a.m. ranked at a magnitude of 1.7 on the Richter scale and the second at 1:18 p.m. brought a 2.0 magnitude, according to initial data from the Oklahoma Geological Survey

17. I'm pretty sure I detected that first one...I'm 70 miles away but live on

pretty substantial sedimentary rock outcropping and I thought I was hearing thunder but there wasn't any weather going on. I've spent a lot
of time in Japan and am somewhat sensitive to seismic burps. Speaking of weather, though, yesterday I was outside in shorts, this morning we did have thunderstorms, 68 deg F, and by 4 PM it's down to 40 and snow is forecast. Definitely a weird 48 hours. ;-)

10. You know, I am in agreement on this...

I have been keeping track of global seismic activity and almost every day I get a report of a newsworthy (over 4.0) quake. A lot in the Pacific Rim, Asia, & Middle East.

I sometimes wonder if Mother nature is fighting back against her destruction.

I hope Seismologists are correct that New Madrid doesn't produce huge quakes but every 500-1000 years. It has been almost 200 years since the series of five earthquakes 8.0 and larger.

18. Felt all over NE and N Central NC

I was driving and didn't feel anything, but heard coverage from WZRU in Roanoke Rapids (NPR) and people were calling in from Halifax, Vance, Nash, Edgecombe, and Northampton counties. It was reported as far west as Orange but that wasn't in the area served by the station. A Virginia caller reported broken windows in Charlottesville from it. Otherwise just rattling, no damage in all other reports.

About a minute's worth of slight shaking. I grew up in San Diego so I knew right away what it was. ShortBusPresident, however, was sure the house was sliding off the foundation. He was out with the flashlight looking under the porch, in the crawlspace etc. for about 10 min. afterward. :D

when the washer is in spin mode, a lamp in the living room rattles until the spin settles out. So when the lamp started rattling, i thot
'am i washing clothes?...no, i'm not!'
Looked around, the dog is lying peacefully on the floor, birds are quiet in their cages, the cat snoozing on the bed, and the whole place was vibrating.
I went outside and heard heavy machinery in the distance, and wondered if that was it, and about the time i started wondering if it was a minor quake, it ended.
That lamp rattled about 30 seconds or more, was pretty freaky since it's a common occurence when the washer runs, but the clothes are still dirty.
got the confirmation on the 6pm news, missed it here.
