WASHINGTON - The Senate on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Pennsylvania Attorney General Mike Fisher to a federal appeals court based in Philadelphia.
Fisher was unanimously confirmed to join the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, according to a joint statement from Pennsylvania's two Republican senators.
"Attorney General Fisher has done an outstanding job serving the residents of Pennsylvania, and I am confident he will continue that commitment as a U.S. Circuit Court judge," said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Fisher will join a court whose members include Midge Rendell, the wife of Gov. Ed Rendell, the Democrat who defeated Fisher in the 2002 gubernatorial race. Gov. Rendell was among those supporting his judicial nomination.
